Reflection. Life at times is oh! so cruel. With the help of God, the Son we are indeed victorious. We become who God destined us to be.

Scripture Readings: Consider it pure joy when you face trials, as they test your faith and produce perseverance. (James 1:2–4, ESV)

And the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. (1 Peter 5:10, NIV)

These Bible texts and so many more speak of:

  • The lessons we learn from trials.
  • The comfort we receive in trials.
  • God Almighty is here for us. As and when needed.
  • God, the Holy Spirit dwells within to give us the strength, comfort and help we need to carry on.

We look back on the roller-coaster ride which is our lives. We look at the days of gladness and deep, deep love. We also see times of heartbreaking sadness and much heart wrenching despair. What do we learn as we look back? The days of sadness. The times of deepest despair. Are the times we learn from the most.

These are the lessons which strengthen us. These are the strengths which build our perseverance. This perseverance builds quality and strength of character. This builds our inner and purest beauty. We have become the person God designed us to be. The very likeness of Himself. The true reflection of God’s love.

Let us ponder on Saint John’s verse for a moment or two. We love God Almighty and one another. “Because He first loved us.”

When we seriously think of this. We firstly think of who we are. We are His beloved child. You and I accepted Jesus His Son as our personal Savior.

Scripture Readings: The Bible tells us that “we love because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:19) It is the love of God that enables us to love Him and one another. “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” (1 John 4:8)

The very likeness of Almighty God are we. This for us is so amazing. We are created in the mirror image of the Creator of the entire universe.

Scripture Reading: Put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. (Ephesians 4:24, ESV)

You and I are created as the reflection of Almighty God. How do we repay our Heavenly Father for this wondrous gift? We repay Him with the only thing we have. We repay our Heavenly Father with all our love. In every action we take. We do it through and with LOVE. In every word we speak. We speak with the LOVE of Jesus our Master and our truest Teacher. In every prayer we usher to Heaven. We honestly send it to Almighty God with all the LOVE in our hearts.

We believe without hesitation. Jesus Christ our Lord, our God was raised from death. After three long days in His cold and dark grave. God His Father turned away. For Jesus carried the sin of all mankind on Him. In the middle of the day, darkness covered the face of the earth. Lightning struck; thunder roared. Heaven turned its back on Jesus Christ because of our sin.

After three long and lonely days in the darkness of His grave. The earth shook. The mighty stone rolled away. Our Savior was raised from death by Almighty God. Jesus Christ stepped victorious out of His tomb. Nothing could hold in the perfect love of the Lamb of God. Our Lord Jesus conquered eternally death.

Scripture Reading: The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29, ESV)

Our Lord is eternally glorious. Our Lord forever lives — victorious over the grave and death. Jesus Christ our Lord, our God is forever risen. Jesus Christ is the King of kings. Christ our Redeemer is the Lord of lords.

Reading of Jesus in His Gospels. We cannot help but be captured by His glory. As we picture Jesus with His beloved disciples and apostles. As their Master and Teacher walks the dusty roads preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. Jesus touches each person He meets with kindness, tenderness and true compassion. Jesus reads the heart of each person in front of Him. He sees before Him a creation of Almighty God.

He also sees in front of Him a little lost sheep. A person who has wandered away from the loving arms of our Father God. Our Good Shepherd sees in front of Him a little lost sheep. Jesus will not rest till He can scoop her up and take her Home.

Scripture Reading: Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders. (Luke 15:4–5, NIV)

In this parable we can picture Jesus carrying us on His shoulders back to God. For each of us have times when we stumble and fall. You and I have days when we wander far from the love of our Father. Jesus our Good Shepherd leaves the others in His flock. In the care of His Father and their angels. Our Good Shepherd calls and calls till we answer Him. Till we repent of our sin. Till we honestly fall on our knees and confess our sins. Once more Jesus bends low. Once again Jesus scoops us up. Lifts us up again onto His shoulders. Again, Jesus carries us back to the Kingdom of God. Our Lord carries us back to our Father who is patiently and lovingly waiting for us. The little one who was lost — is now found.

Scripture Reading: I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. (Luke 15:7, ESV)
