We Spread Our Wings to Protect Those We Love

Scripture Reading: As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:

So the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him. (Deuteronomy 12:11-12, KJV)

Reflection. The care and protection of God’s mightiest of birds. His eagles. They care for and tend to their babies. This and so much more. So is the love of our Heavenly Father.

Have you ever witnessed the miracle? The parenting of God’s mighty eagles? These magnificent birds land gently on the edge of their nest. These birds of prey. These powerful birds can swoop down and kill as no other bird can. These birds of prey. Whose call terrifies and mystifies. Whose mere presence sends smaller animals into their shelter.

These mighty birds of God, answer the call of their babies. Their beaks are filled with food for their little ones. Their hearts are filled with care and compassion for these little ones. Each little one is so vulnerable and helpless. These parents display such care and tenderness. They feed each one. Till each baby is satisfied. We look in awe. At…
