We Lift Our Hands and Our Hearts, With Love for Jesus
Let our faith lift us to our Lord Jesus Christ.
A true faith in Jesus Christ will not suffer us to be idle. No, it is an active, lively, restless principle; it fills the heart, so that it cannot be easy till it is doing something for Jesus Christ. (George Whitefield, 1771)
Reflection. Reading of Jesus’ life through the Gospels. We see how active His love is.
We love Jesus with all our hearts. It is a joy to spend time with Jesus in His Gospels. We do not learn much about Jesus’ childhood. We do know. We do believe. That Jesus, as a young child. That. Jesus is fully Man. Jesus is fully God. God is perfect. We picture Jesus busy with His Earthly father, Joseph. Jesus toiling side-by-side with Joseph. Jesus at all times shows Joseph the respect that he deserves. Jesus sets aside His divine powers. Jesus works and toils hard in His father’s workshop.
Scripture Reading: So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. (Romans 10:17, ESV)
Jesus’ relationship, and His love for His mother, Mary. O! Such a special bond and loving connection this was. Mary is the chosen one. Mary the mother of our Lord Jesus. Jesus would have given to her, His love, affection and respect that she deserved. As Jesus grew, so would His love for Mary. As Jesus grew so would His respect and affection. Mary always held a special place in Jesus’ life and His heart. Mary was at the foot of His cross. Jesus loved Mary so. Into the hands of His beloved friend and disciple John. Jesus placed the care of His beloved mother. Just before He died. Such was the strength of the love of Jesus for Mary, His beloved mother.
Scripture Reading: Jesus grew up, maturing in physical strength and increasing in wisdom, and the grace of God rested on Him. (Luke 2:40, ESV)
Throughout the Gospels, we see Jesus always doing the work of Almighty God. When the disciples are busy fishing. Jesus is on the beach preparing their breakfast. Jesus the King of kings. Jesus the Lord of Lords. Jesus the Creator of all there is. Is cooking His friends their breakfast.
When out and about. Jesus is always busy doing His Father’s work. A man born blind. Jesus turns immediately and attends to this man’s needs. Jesus does not tarry or take His time. He attends to this man’s needs. Never a person who calls upon Jesus is neglected. Never a crowd that needs His lesson goes untaught. His friends are close to Jesus’ heart at all times. Jesus is busy attending to God’s work at all times. We owe Almighty God no less.
We are created by God to love Him. To work for Him. To win lost souls for God Almighty.
Scripture Reading: We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10)
Imagine, if you will. A world where each person knew the divine purpose and plan that God had for him. A world where each person gladly obeyed this plan. A world where each person worked side-by-side with his neighbour. Where each person supported the person next to him. Where there were no wars. Just harmonious labour. What a wondrous world this would be.
Scripture Reading: For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11, ESV)
This world of wonder and harmony. Is the world God the Creator made for us. This is how God Almighty made us to be. Sadly, humanity decided differently. We chose our path. We make our plans. Look at the mess the world is in now.
How do we fix the mess the world is in? Is it indeed fixable? I believe it is. With God anything is possible.
Scripture Reading: But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26, ESV )
For with God nothing shall be impossible. (Luke 1:37, ESV)
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (Philippians 4:13, ESV)
And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible. (Mark 10:27, ESV)
Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. (Mark 9:23, ESV)
I believe all seemingly impossible tasks are achievable if you take them one step at a time. When trying to change the world. There is only one way. To bring each person back Home to their Creator. I believe there is only one way to do this. By loving them back to God. By serving their needs. With sweet kindness and tender compassion. As the Beatles once sang, “What the world needs now is LOVE.” We bring them back Home to Almighty God by loving them. Truly and purely loving them.
Loving the world back Home to Almighty God. Begins with our first step.
We begin with our immediate neighbours. Spending a little time with one who we know is lonely. Just being with her. Our kind, soft and gentle ways smooth her aching heart. Our soft touch on her hand. Maybe the first sign of love for such a long, long time. We offer to take her shopping. And a cuppa at her favourite cafe. All she needed was LOVE. And this we have in abundance. Now we multiply this by all our neighbours. And all of a sudden we have started to LOVE the world back Home to Almighty God. One person at a time.
Isn’t that what our Lord Jesus did? Love the world. One person at a time. I for one believe. If every disciple of Jesus. Followed this simple example. For the rest of our lives. We would make a difference. This world would be better for it.
Conclusion. LET US GIVE THIS A TRY SHALL WE? Then people will remember us because we have loved. Truly loved.
What is the heart’s memory but love itself. (Tan Twan Eng)
When our life has come to a close. My prayer is that you and I will be remembered because we have loved. That this love was deep, personal, intimate and the love of Almighty God.
When Almighty God calls me Home. I hope on my gravestone. Something like this will be written. I pray I will be remembered for the LOVE I have shared.
Life is a flower of which love is the honey. (Victor Hugo)
Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase. (Martin Luther King, Jr.)
