We Find Our Home, Our Rest in God
God is our home, our refuge, our shelter and our protection.
It is essential that we firstly identify who exactly is our dwelling place.
Moses in Psalm 90, clearly emphasizes, “Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations.” (v.1) David continues this theme in Psalm 65,
Blessed is the one You choose and bring near, to dwell in Your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, the holiness of Your temple! (v.4)
Many, many others of David’s Psalms also speak of God as our tent, dwelling place, refuge and house.
We as true and faithful believers in Jesus, experience God as our one and only dwelling place. Our current and future home, is not a what. But, a whom. Our dwelling place, our refuge is our loving Heavenly Father.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. (Psalm 91:1, ESV)Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place —
the Most High, Who is my refuge. (Psalm 91:9, ESV)
God is not to be a dwelling place we visit on occasion. He is our loving Father. Our Lord. Our Almighty God. God is to be our permanent home, shelter and refuge. In our modern times of chaos and constant struggle. God’s permanence is oh! so reassuring.
