The Cornerstone of Our Faith. Is Our Lord Jesus.
Jesus Christ is our beloved. Our Lord Jesus is the reason we live. We place our faith and trust in Jesus Christ.
Reflection. Our faith and our trust are placed in the Lord Jesus. Jesus Christ is God the Son. He is the cornerstone of Christianity. Our Lord Jesus is our sure and firm foundation.
Architects and builders place their faith and trust in strong cornerstones. They know the need to erect the cornerstone in a strong foundation. These experts believe the whole building stands tall and proud. Depending on the reliability of these pillars. Cornerstones decide whether or not the building stands or falls. Buildings at times face mighty winds and days of storms.
These storms at times strike the building with lightning that amazes. The building is shaken to its very foundation. With roars of mighty thunder. Built on the firm and steady foundation of reliable cornerstones. This building remains proud and tall. This is a testament to the expertise of its architect and builders. These experts have studied for many years. These experts continue to learn throughout their careers.
These strong cornerstones ensure their buildings endure such storms. Buildings created around strong cornerstones stand tall and proud. No, matter the mighty winds and storms they endure. These buildings show no cracks or signs of weakness. They are built around the foundation of firm and lasting cornerstones.
Our Lord Jesus is God the Son. God by His very nature is LOVE. God is Love. Jesus Christ walked this Earth to give all God’s people His love and compassion. Our Lord was born of Mary. Jesus grew up as a child and learned all that is required to be a man. Jesus learned to be an obedient child. Our Lord travelled with His parents to Jewish festivals. Our Lord studied, memorised and meditated often on the Word of God. For Jesus, God's Holy Word connects Him daily with His Father. The connection for our Lord was as necessary as the air He breathed.
Jesus loved God Almighty above all others. Prayer time for Jesus was often and vital. Prayer for Jesus kept His companionship with Almighty God alive and real. Jesus our Lord and companion truly knows what it means to be human. Jesus understands the need to place our faith and trust in God. Jesus asks us to put our faith and trust in Him — ALWAYS!
Scripture Readings: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths. (Proverbs 3:5–8, ESV)
So that your trust may be in the Lord, I have taught you today, even you. (Proverbs 22:19, ESV)
You and I have times when storms rage and rant all around us. We all have days when all around us. The mighty winds of anxiety and concern threaten to blow us over. We turn to the One who has weathered the storm. The One who spoke and the wind calmed. The One who spoke and the waves stilled. Jesus is the cornerstone we place our complete trust in. Our Lord Jesus will never let us down. Jesus as He walked the earth suffered as we do. Jesus truly understands. Our Lord will never fail us.
Reading of Saint Peter’s faith in Christ Jesus. As he “ walked on the water and came toward Jesus.” In our times of trials and days of worries. We reach out our hand to Jesus. We place our burden at the foot of His cross. You and I walk beside our Lord Jesus and feel Him carry us. There are times we doubt Him. These are the times we read of Jesus’ love in His Gospels. Once more we are lifted high. Once more we feel His hand carry us to safety. Once more we are lifted to be more than we can be.
Place our complete and absolute trust and faith in our Lord Jesus.
Scripture Reading: Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” He said, “why did you doubt?” (Matthew 14:29–31, ESV)
Conclusion. Storms may rage. Winds may blow. Almighty God never places in our lives more than we can take.
This assurance gives us such peace. Almighty God ensures no troubles in our lives. Outweigh what we can tackle. Our Creator knows us inside and out. Our Creator loves each of His people so. He loves and cares for each of us. He will ensure all our trials and troubles do not outweigh what we can tackle.
Then we of course turn to Jesus our Helper. We turn to Jesus. Jesus is the cornerstone of our faith and our trust. As did Saint Peter. We reach out our hand to Jesus in complete faith. Jesus in turn reaches out and safely takes us to shore.
Our Lord Jesus is our cornerstone. Our Lord Jesus is the very foundation to build our faith and trust. We stand proud and tall with Jesus as our cornerstone. Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus is our ally. There is nothing we cannot achieve with Jesus at our side. There is no battle we cannot win. The trenches of life are fought with Jesus as our provision. You and I are conquerors over the darkness. Jesus is our love and our light. Jesus is the cornerstone. In Jesus, we are safe and sound — ALWAYS.
Today’s music video is extra special. It reassures us. The love of our Lord Jesus fills our hearts and souls. Our hearts and souls dwell in the peace of His love.
In Christ Alone.
In Christ alone, my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my soul
This cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled when striving cease
My comforter, my all in all
Here in the love of Christ, I stand.(Keith Getty and Stuart Townend, 2001)
