Shine the love, the light of Jesus. Into the heart of each person, we meet.

Love Has a Name. [Jesus]

There’s a space in every beating heart.
There’s a longing that reaches past the stars.
There’s an answer to every question mark,
There’s a Name.

There’s a hope flowing through these veins,
There’s a voice that echoes through the pain.
There’s an ember ready for the flame,
There’s a Name. (Kim Walker-Smith)

Introduction. Every person wants to be loved, to be accepted and to be chosen. May God be praised. We all are, by Jesus Christ, God’s beloved Son.

Scripture Reading: … even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us for adoption to Himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will. (Ephesians 1:4–5, ESV)

When we picture our beloved Savior nailed to His wicked and cruel cross. His revered arms outstretched to us in love. His worshiped hands with Roman nails hammered to the weathered wood. His cherished fingers. Oh! Those fingers which touched so many in love. Those fingers which healed the sick and the injured. Those fingers which blessed at the Last Supper. The wine and the bread in a blessing of His body and His blood. Those fingers of our Lord. Our Savior. Pointed in love to you and to me.

Jesus chose to die. Jesus chose to love us. Jesus chooses to love all people.

Scripture Reading: Whoever feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. (John 6:54, ESV)

Jesus chose to die. This is I believe, deserves repeating. Our Lord, our Savior, our God chose to die in our place. Jesus loves you and loves me so. He chose me. Jesus Christ chooses you. Now show to each person we meet. Jesus also chooses them. Jesus our Lord chooses to love us.

Now, with hearts overflowing with the love of Jesus. Now, with hearts overflowing with the love of God our Heavenly Father. Now, with a prayer of thanksgiving. We show to each person we meet. The love. The light of Jesus. The light of the glory of God Almighty.

Scripture Reading: Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. (Philippians 2:4, ESV)

Jesus Christ set to us a perfect example of love and of gentle kindness. Our Lord dealt compassionately and tenderly with all those He met.

Scripture Reading: With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love. (Ephesians 4:2, ESV)

“Love one another as He has loved us.” On the eve of our Lord’s crucifixion. In the upper room. During the familiar Last Supper. Our Lord presented to the world and new commandment.

Scripture Reading: A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. (John 13:34, ESV)

Now this commandment is not just a Holy law written in ink on parchment. It is Christ’s love in action. It is Almighty God’s love in service.

Everything our Lord Jesus did. Every word Jesus spoke was love in action. Was love for His Father in service and in humble obedience. We owe to Jesus, as His faithful disciples. No less.

Sadly, today’s world is filled with suffering, chaos and broken families. Do you feel as I? Where do I begin? It is all too much! But has it really changed since the days of Jesus? Not really! Thousands upon thousands flocked to hear His wise teachings. Crowds hemmed upon our Lord to be healed and to be cleansed of their sin.

No, nothing really has changed! We have the power and the strength within of God, the Holy Spirit. You and I have our unbending faith in Jesus. Yes, one person at a time we serve! As did Jesus. One person at a time we tend to and care for. As did Jesus, the Great Physician. We compassionately listen to the broken-hearted and the lonely. As did Jesus, the Great Counsellor. One person at a time. We love and care for. As does Jesus, who cares for and tends to our needs.

Scripture Reading: But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as Holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect. (1 Peter 3:15, ESV)

Now with the love of Jesus in our heart. Now with the compassion and kindness of Jesus. We show to each person we meet. Jesus chooses to love them, and He died for them.

Scripture Reading: To open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Me. (Acts 26:18, ESV)

Now, once more we turn to the perfect example of Jesus. We read in His Gospels. Jesus’ primary purpose on Earth was to proclaim. Was to preach the coming of the Kingdom of God.

As we tend to the physical and emotional needs of others. Our spiritual light shines gently into their heart. As we tend to her needs. We usher a silent prayer to God. That He opens her heart to His love. We pray earnestly, that God Almighty invites her Home. We ask our Father, in prayer to show her, through our care and tender attention. To welcome her Home. Then we leave the rest to Almighty God.

Conclusion. Then we have answered the call. You and I have shone the love and the light of Jesus. Into the heart of all those we meet.
