Infinity, we glimpse. God’s glory on display. In awe. In wonder we stand. Our praise we pray to our LORD.

The Stars Declare His Glory.

The stars declare His glory,
the vault of Heaven springs,
mute witness of the Master’s hand.
In all created things,
and through the silences of space
their soundless music sings.

The dawn returns in splendor,
the heavens burn and blaze,
the rising sun renews the race.
that measures all our days,
and writes in fire across the skies,
God’s majesty and praise. (Timothy Dudley-Smith, 1926)

Introduction. Each star in God’s heavens. As it dazzles and it sparkles. Reveals the glory of its Creator.

Scripture Reading: The heavens are telling the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims His handiwork. (Psalm 19:1, NRSV)

Do you, as me? On a clear starry night. Simply look up. Then, you and I in love for God imagine. Ever since our Creator made Adam and Eve. All humanity has lifted their heart. Has raised their eyes to His glorious heavens. All peoples. In all nations have glimpsed into God’s infinity. All God’s children have indeed looked into the very heart of God Himself.

Yes, you and I, and all God’s chosen ones. For just a little while stand in awe and in wonder. As a small part of God’s universe unfolds far up above us. Our very breath is taken away. Such beauty, such majesty and indescribable Almighty power is on array. We raise a prayer of thanksgiving to Heaven. We silently sing our praise to the Creator of all there is.

Even as a very young girl. I was fascinated by our Creator’s ever-expanding heavens. When visiting our local library. Its astronomy section drew me in. As a wondrous and loving magnet. Like a compass pointing safely north. Immersed in God and His mysteries, I sat for hours. From my youth till now. His wonders drew in my imagination and my praise. My fascination has never faded. I pray it never shall.

Scripture Reading: When I look at Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars that You have established. (Psalm 8:3, NRSV)

All of God’s creations. Indeed, all of God’s heavens. Declare the glory and the power of the Almighty One.

I for one feel we are so blessed and so fortunate to live in today’s age of modern technology. For with the use of telescopes on Earth. And floating above in space. More and more of God’s heavens are revealed daily. Allowing you and I to gaze further back in time and farther out into the distance. We realize once more. Just how great and wondrous our Creator God truly is.

Supercomputers are able to expose the moment when and where it all began. Well scientists’ interpretation of it, anyhow. Merely a glimpse. A tantalizing hint of what there really is. Not till you and I meet God in Paradise. Will we truly understand God and His wisdom.

To fully behold the wonder and the awe of the Almighty One. You and I must fully immerse ourselves in His true nature. Standing beneath His heavens on a clear and crystal night. God’s heavens fill our heart and our soul with such joy and overwhelming delight.

One thing you and I marvel at. As we read God’s Holy Word. Our Bible is filled to overflowing. With words of God’s beauty and His magnificence.

Scripture Reading: Your eyes will see the King in His beauty; they will behold a land that stretches far away. (Isaiah 33:17, NRSV)

We, you and I, once more are wrapped in the loving arms of God our Heavenly Father. For all above us found its very reason for being. From the source and character of God Himself. God is love! Everything God does. He does by and through His love. This is why all God’s creation is wondrous and so very beautiful. All God’s creation is beauty in and of itself. As we stand beneath His canopy of stars. We are once more wrapped in the love of God our Father.

We stand in contemplation. Beneath the beauty and wonder of His awesome creations. As His heavens open up before us.

The Biblical definition for God’s creation of everything from nothing, is “ex nihilo.” Meaning that our Creator God used only His divine and Supreme power of LOVE.

Next time we raise our heart and our eyes and seek our favorite star. This time we view it a little differently. We see it as God’s handiwork of love. Picture, if you will? The times we make a little something extra special for our child. We take extra care. With each action. Love is the key ingredient.

So, it is with our Creator God. When He fashioned each star, planet, comet, galaxy and moon. Love was indeed His key ingredient also.

God, for me at least. May not have formed the heavens from absolutely nothing. Our Heavenly Father, our LORD, our God made the universe. And all it contains by His love. Now is not this wonderful?

Scripture Reading: And Hezekiah prayed before the Lord and said: “O Lord, the God of Israel, enthroned above the cherubim, You are the God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; You have made Heaven and Earth. (2 Kings 19:15, ESV)

When I first changed my life from a city girl to a country bumpkin. One thing that came as a free and such unexpected gift. Was stargazing. Never too interested as a city girl. Not that many stars to see anyhow. But, on my very first night as a country folk. Well, that all changed for me.

It was a clear, dark and moonless night. The air was crisp, with a promise of an early morning frost. I looked up. I stopped and I looked up again. Was my mind playing tricks on me? Could there possibly be this many stars in my small patch of the night sky? I kept looking up, greedily stargazing. Till my poor aching neck said rest awhile.

Well, what was my savings account saving for? Yes, you guessed it. A telescope. And, though this was well over twenty years ago. I still recall my excitement when it eventually arrived. I should have saved up for longer. And got a better one. Could have seen even more stars. Well, we had the professional one up in the mountains. It was only one hour’s drive away.

Now many, oh! so many nights were spent stargazing. Did I have a favorite? Heck no! Why would I? They are all different. They speak to me of magic. They speak to me of mystery. They speak to me of questions I really don’t want to be answered. Are they mere suns that are a long way off?

For me, they will always be so much more. I heard not so long ago that we are all made of stardust. Well, I know that already. That’s obvious, isn’t it? We are just as sparkling as they. We are just as magical as they. We are just as mysterious as they are. And it seems we are almost as numerous as the stars in the heavens.

Scripture Reading: Lift up your eyes on high,
And see Who has created these stars,
The One who leads forth their host by number.
He calls them all by name,
Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power,
Not one of them is missing. (Isaiah 40:26–30)

May God our Creator be praised. God’s Heavens He created by and through His love.
