Powerful Prayer for Peace in the Holy Name of Jesus
This world of turmoil and wars. Needs all our prayers for peace.
Let There Be Peace of Earth.
With God as our father
Brothers all are we
Let me walk with my brother
In perfect harmony.Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now
With every step I take
Let this be my solemn vow.(Vince Gill, 1955)
Introduction. World peace. An ideal concept. All God’s people strive for it. Sadly, peace is missing in the lives of many nations and many countries.
Jesus our LORD. Christ our Savior. Jesus, God the Son. Jesus is our ‘Prince of Peace.’
Whenever we turn on the global news. You and I are bombarded with countries divided within themselves. Nations at war with their neighbors. At times even on an international scale. Upheaval on a global scale never before known to mankind. Weapons of mass destruction. Threatening to wipe out all life on this precious planet.
All God’s people crave for peace. Now — more than ever before. In the history of humanity. In all the time man has existed. Mankind has never before been capable of wiping out once and for all. All God’s wondrous and amazing creations on Earth.
Who do we turn to in this time of global, national, family and personal unrest??? Our one. Our only ‘Prince of Peace.’ You and I seek the peace of Jesus.
Scripture Readings: For He Himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in His flesh the dividing wall of hostility. (Ephesians 2:14, ESV)
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon His shoulder,
and His name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6, ESV)
God’s Holy Word tells us that Jesus’ title of, ‘Prince of Peace.’ Restores our relationship with God the Father. And so very much more.
So what about the name “Prince of Peace?” What does this mean?
The Prince of Peace seeks to restore relationships, assure us of our destination in Heaven, and provide us with a peaceful rhythm and balance in life. (Hope Bolinger, Crosswalk Blog)
‘Prince of Peace’ in Hebrew. The language in which our Lord, Jesus spoke. Means far more than, the mere absence of wars and the end of turmoil. Though, what a wonderful world this would be. Jesus’ peace is eternal and restoring.
In World War I. On Christmas Day. For just one hour. In the trenches of Germany. Weapons were laid down. Soldiers on both sides sang the Christmas Carol, “Silent Night.” On December the 25th 1915, an one hour truce. For one sweet and for one blessed hour. An absence of hatred. For one blessed hour. In the trenches of Germany there was peace. Then resumed the gun shots. Then resumed the killing.
The wondrous. The blessed peace of Jesus. The glory. The love of Almighty God.
Scripture Reading: I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33, ESV)
The sacred Hebrew term, ‘Shalom,’ conveys God’s sense of tranquility. This Hebrew word also brings a quality of completion and wholeness. This is who we are as faithful believers in God. Complete and whole through our faith in our Heavenly Father. Nothing is impossible for us with God and His love for us.
In the days of Jesus. Jews greeted each with the term, ‘Shalom.’
This Jewish greeting in the days of our Lord, Jesus. Wishing each other good health, success and true peace.
This kind of peace is present when everything is going well, when people speak well about you and you receive some praise and honor, when you are doing well and things are running smoothly in most areas. Most people have experienced that this peace is extremely fickle; nevertheless, the majority of them aspire to it. One moment everything might seem so pleasant and praiseworthy, and in the next moment it is the opposite. (Svein Kronstad, Active Christianity Blog)
What a wonderful world this would be. If we greeted one another. And truly meant these words of greeting.
Our Lord Jesus’ peace is offered to all. Jesus’ peace not only brings peace to our daily lives. His peace brings a restoration. A reconciliation with our Heavenly Father. Which lasts for eternity.
Our Lord Jesus grants us a peace. Which transcends all circumstances. Jesus’ rest is beyond all imagination. And comforts us no matter our trials and tribulations.
Scripture Reading: And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7, ESV)
This is the true and the glorious peace of Jesus. Sadly, the peace offered by the world is fleeting. The world’s peace depends of other people and earthly possessions.
People the world over crave and search for peace. Songs, movies, novels and poems are written of and about peace. Doctors are paid vast amounts of money. For that one magical pill. Many famous and wealthy people. Would swap all they have. For just one moment of peace.
If only they knew. Peace is only a prayer away. True, permanent and eternal peace is only a prayer away. Gaining Jesus’ soothing and calming peace is gained by. Completely placing our trust in our Lord Jesus. In all our actions. In every word. You and I obey completely and always. The Holy Law of Almighty God, always.
Scripture Reading: He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” (Luke 11:28, ESV)
This article is also on Biblical peace. And fits nicely with mine, Diane.
