Love the One Who Loves Us So
You and I have a Father who loves us unceasingly. We love Him with all our heart.
Praise You in This Storm.
And I’ll praise You in this storm and I will lift my hands,
For You are who You are, no matter where I am,
And every tear I’ve cried, You hold in Your hands.
You never left my side though my heart is torn,
I will praise You in this storm. But as the thunder rolls, I barely hear,
You whisper through the rain, “I’m with you.”
And as Your mercy falls, I raise my hands,
And praise the God who gives and takes away.(Bernie Herms, John Mark Hall, 2020)
Introduction. Our highest hope. Our most sincere prayer. To always, yes! Always obey Jesus’ Greatest Commandment,
Scripture Reading: The most important one, answered Jesus, is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ (Mark 12:29–30, NIV)
We ask ourselves why? Why the need to obey this seemingly impossible law. For so many others tug at our heart strings. Our young children plead for all our love and our full attention at all times. Our husband demands at all times our full care and our full attention. The world screams for all our love and for our tender care at all times.
Oh! How do we love our God, our LORD, our Heavenly Father with all our heart. AT ALL TIMES. You and I are so weak. We are merely human. How, we pray to God Almighty? HOW?????
Then, may God be praised. We remember we are created in the very image of God Himself. No, we are not merely human. No, we are not weak. For on God’s shoulders, we abide. God created you and I in the very likeness of Himself. God is love. We are created in and by His love. We are His reflection. Therefore, as His reflection. We shall. We will love God, with all our heart and with all our soul. From this moment forth and till eternity. AMEN!
Scripture Reading: We love because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19, NIV)
As a created image and a likeness of our Creator, God. You and I each have God-given desires to love God above all others. God Almighty built within our heart and our soul. This never-ending need. This soft and gentle urgency to love Him above all others.
This then is the one and only true answer to our quest. How to obey Jesus’ Greatest Commandment? By fulfilling our heart’s most wonderful desire. By following our soul’s most loving need. To love our God with all our heart, now and forever more.
Jesus’ Greatest Commandment is for us a loving reminder. A soft and loving reminder of who our Father truly is. Our LORD is a God of LOVE and faithfulness.
God our Heavenly Father is a very understanding Parent. Our LORD has eternity at His disposal. So, God has all eternity to wait for us to love Him. As we spend time with Him in prayer to get to know our God, our LORD more personally.
I, for one begin and end my day in prayer. Then surprise myself just how often I usher silent and brief prayers to Heaven. Even as I write this my article of and about my love for God. Short, sincere, loving and brief prayers for guidance are spoken to Him frequently. Also, to my astoundment and to my surprise. I am touched at how these brief and frequent prayers bring to me Jesus’ peace.
Pray to God Almighty. Frequently and with thanksgiving. When we do, Jesus will bring to us, His peace.
Scripture Reading: Peace, I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27, NIV)
Each time you and I bow our head in prayer. To the Almighty One, the first words we utter. Are words of thanksgiving for this gift, this blessing. For our time spent with our Father in prayer is indeed a gift, a blessing. We have a God who desires an intimate. A personal connection with us — PRAYER. As we bow our head. We remember, our God is waiting. Our Lord desires us as deeply as we need Him.
I often picture Jesus deeply and lovingly in prayer with His Father. Simply and sincerely conversing with the Father and His God. With the Father He loves and needs so. Jesus, our LORD, our Savior, our God often stepped aside from His mission of love. Christ found Himself places of quiet and solitude and prayed.
Scripture Readings: And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, He departed and went out to a desolate place, and there He prayed. (Mark 1:35, ESV)
In these days He went out to the mountain to pray, and all night He continued in prayer to God. (Luke 6:12, ESV)
And after He had dismissed the crowds, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. When evening came, He was there alone. (Matthew 14:23, ESV)
As true and faithful disciples of Jeus. You and I, do as He did, and does still. We find our place of quiet and solitude. We bow our head. To our God. To our Father we pray. As was Jesus’ disciples in the early church. You and I are totally dependent on our prayer time with the Almighty One, our Heavenly Father, our LORD.
Scripture Reading: and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the Word. (Acts 6:4, NIV)
As you and I read of the devotion and dedication of Jesus’ disciples. In the Gospels, we see often His Apostles totally dependent on prayer.
How totally dependent on prayer these men of faith were. These men who walked each day in the physical presence of our LORD. How much more vital is it for us? Our faith is founded on Christ who has risen to His Father in Heaven. Jesus now sits on His throne at the right hand of His Father in the Kingdom of God. You and I have faith and trust in a Jesus we cannot touch and see.
Our prayers connect us to the Almighty One. Our prayer time binds us to God and brings to us such confidence. Our trust, faith and total dependence on our Father. Gives us all the courage we need. Till at last we see Jesus, face-to-face in Paradise.
Scripture Readings: To an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in Heaven for you. (1 Peter 1:4, ESV)
No longer will there be anything accursed, but the Throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His servants will worship Him. (Revelation 22:3, ESV)
And raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the Heavenly places in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:6, ESV)
Another miracle. Is the power of prayer. Yes!!! The power and the magnificence of our time in prayer.
Scripture Reading: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. (Philippians 4:6, ESV)
This verse and so many more in God’s Holy Word. Reassures us that we are not to worry or to be anxious. Our God is not telling us that our journey of faith will be a bed of roses. What our Father is telling you and me.
When days of sadness and heartache indeed come our way. We turn to Him in prayer. In courage and with full belief. That all our prayers He answers. We hand to our loving Father our burden. For our Heavenly Father listens to all prayers and answers.
May God be praised we have a God who loves us. So we love God our Father with all our heart.
