Touching the lives and hearts of others as Jesus did. Let Us Heal their hearts and their souls.

Sickness is something that we’ve all had to deal with at one time or another. But God can heal you! Jesus healed people while He was here on earth, and Jesus is still with us today! (Pastor Jack Wellman)

Introduction. Jesus Christ the Great Physician. We are Jesus’ caring and healing hands for the sad and heart broken.

Scripture Reading: … and a great crowd of people followed Him because they saw the signs, He had performed by healing the sick. (John 6:2, NIV)

Jesus Sends Out the Twelve

Jesus called His twelve disciples to Him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness. (Matthew 10:1, NIV)

Do you ever tire of reading the healings and miracles of our Great Physician in His Gospels? Our Lord, Jesus the Great Physician performed many miracles. Most likely more than which are written down for us in the New Testament. Our Great Physician touched and healed in cities and towns throughout His earthly ministry.

What a filling of my heart and soul it would be to witness first-hand our Lord heal the sick. Wait a moment I have. Many, many years ago. My youngest son. My precious child lay grievously ill in his hospital bed. His neurosurgeon held out little hope for full recovery. In the hospital chapel. Through a mother’s tears. I called out to my Heavenly Father.

My Lord, my God, Jesus the Great Physician reached out His hand in love and healed my precious child. Now my son over forty years later lives to enjoy life. My son and I live to love, worship and praise Jesus and His Father.

Scripture Reading: The Workers Are Few

Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. (Matthew 9:35, NIV)

Jesus our Great Physician still heals. Jesus, God the Son still performs His miracles. We are His hands, voice and His tools.

Even when Jesus still walked the dusty roads of Galilee. Our Lord even back then was not actually present at the healing of the royal official’ son. As you and I read of Jesus’ miracle in John 4:46–53.

We will see in this healing that the child lay dying some twenty miles distant from where Jesus was approached. For me Jesus performed two miracles that day. Firstly, the miraculous healing of the dying child. Plus, the acceptance and the acknowledgment by the father that Jesus was the Messiah.

Our Lord reassured the believing father. It was his absolute faith in Jesus. As God the Son which brought about the instant healing. The same moment of the official’s confession of faith. Was indeed the exact moment of his son’s healing. For me, yes, two miracles were performed by Jesus that day.

Let Us Be the Healing Touch of Jesus. Loving Others as He Does.

Have you ever experienced the change in your day, brought about by a soft and tender touch??? You have and probably not even remembered. Did you at the time realize what a loving gesture this tender touch signified?

We are a little sad. A close and dear friend has noticed. Not a word needs to be spoken. Just a soft, tender and gentle touch of our hand. She is silently speaking to our troubled heart. I care. I am here. We are not alone.

If you wish. We can usher a prayer to our Heavenly Father?

There are so many ways that in our daily life. We can touch and heal the heart and soul of those God places on our path.

Just being with a friend as she unburdens her heart. Truly being there for her. Not judging her in any way. Listening, genuinely listening. Until she is ready to move on. Yes, we have loved her as Jesus does. Putting her needs before ours. Loving her with all the love of Jesus. And, once more a prayer to our Father if she wishes.

Scripture Reading: A friend loves at all times,
and a brother is born for adversity. (Proverbs 17:17, ESV)

Being at the graveside with a loved one. When a family member has passed. And for as long as needed as she grieves. Not an easy task. For our heart also is aching. Again, her needs and heartache must come first. We look to Jesus for an example. We ask for guidance from God the Holy Spirt. You and I turn to God’s Holy Word for the verses we need for reassurance. And, once more a prayer to our Father if she wishes.

As we walk our path of faith. Each day will bring to us opportunities to be the loving hands, voice and tools of Jesus our Great Physician. We do His bidding with great joy and love in our heart. For as we love the people God Almighty places before us. We indeed see the changes He makes in their lives. May God Almighty be praised. AMEN!

Scripture Reading: Of David. When he pretended to be insane before Abimelek, who drove him away, and he left.

I will extol the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips.

I will glory in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. (Psalm 34:1–2, NIV)

We are true and faithful disciples of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As such we love and honor all those we meet.

One thing that stands out about our Lord. Jesus, God the Son loved each person with all the love He had to give. No person found favor in His heart. All people were loved without bias and were not judged in any way.

As Jesus’ followers we are to treat all those we meet as equals in God. For each person is a creation of God. Every person that crosses our path is an image of God, our Creator. Each person is made in the very likeness of God Himself. We are to put all judgmental feelings aside. And love one another as God first loves us.

Scripture Reading: And He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ (Matthew 22:37–39, ESV)

This at many times is a lot easier said than done. But with the help of God the Holy Spirit. With the wisdom gained by daily study of God’s Holy Word. We love each person we meet with the true and pure love of Jesus.

Conclusion. Our Lord, the Great Physician still heals today. Through us His disciples.

  • As we walk each day on our path of faith.
  • And by loving, truly loving each person God places before us.
  • People’s lives are indeed changed by the love of God through us.
  • In simple, humble acts of love. We bring peace and comfort again to the lives of people that cross our path.
  • Jesus is working through us to perform His miracles of love and healing.
