Jesus Teaches Us How to Pray
The Lord’s Prayer. Jesus’ model on how to approach. God the Father in prayer.
Sweet Hour of Prayer
Sweet hour of prayer,
Sweet hour of prayer.
The joys I feel, the bliss I share.Of those whose anxious spirits burn
With strong desires for Thy return.
With such I hasten to the place.(William W. Walford, 1845)
Introduction. The Lord’s Prayer. Commonly known as the “Our Father.” Is Jesus’ guide. Not mere words to be recited verbatim.
Pray then like this: “Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For if you forgive others their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (Matthew 6:9–15) (Bible Study Tools Blog)
The first thing we notice. Jesus teaches us. God loves His children so much. Almighty God’s love for each of His children. Is so personal and so very intimate. “Our Father!” You and I are to address the creator of all there is. As our Heavenly Father. Such a privilege. Such a blessing. We are loved. You and I are truly and intimately loved by God Almighty. Yes, we are.
“Our Father.” With these two words. All God’s beloved children are bonded to the creator of all there is. We are connected to God the Father. We are united to Almighty God in a Father/child relationship. A connectedness as no other. We kneel before the Almighty One. We begin each prayer with “Our Father.”
The Lord’s Prayer commences with two words, “Our Father.” We begin each prayer with, “Our Father.” These two words remind us. We are all members of our Father’s divine family of God.
Did you realize the Lord’s Prayer is the most powerful? The most familiar prayer ever? It has been translated into more than two thousand languages and dialects. When we fully understand the guidance of Jesus. Behind the “Our Father” prayer. We have a firm foundation for our prayer life. You and I have such a blessed connectedness with God the Father.
When you, I and all God’s beloved children pray. Following Jesus’ guidance. Our prayers are ones which must be answered. For we believe. We surely believe in God’s promise. All prayers are indeed heard and always answered. For God is in Heaven. Patiently waiting for us to pray to Him.
Scripture Reading: The Lord’s Prayer.
Give us each day our daily bread. (Luke 6:3, ESV)
Millions upon millions of dedicated Christians around the world know the Lord’s Prayer. It is the most well known passage of God’s Holy Word ever! Perhaps! Sadly, too well known to many. Many may well merely gloss over these blessed words. Without recognizing and believing in their deep reverence.
The “Our Father” prayer is Jesus’ message to all God’s beloved children. This blessed gift from our Heavenly Father. Holds such incredible grace from God still.
The deep reverence found in the Lord’s Prayer. As taught by Jesus our true Master.
Scripture Reading: After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in Heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done in earth, as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen! (Matthew 6:9–13, KJV)
Let us place this blessed prayer. With deepest reverence into our hearts. This precious message. This treasured gift to us from our Master Jesus. We learn. Lesson by lesson. Its value to our lives and to our spiritual journeys. Is treasured deeply — ALWAYS!
Jesus taught us this amazingly powerful prayer.
The Lord’s Prayer is found in Matthew 6:9–10 and is in the middle of Jesus’ longest recorded message, the Sermon On The Mount. In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus contrasts how most people in His day pray with how they should pray. And what He says is revolutionary. (Jeffery Curtis Poor, ReThink Blog)
Jesus is our Lord. Jesus is our loving Master. He looks into the hearts of the ones who pray to God the Father. He know and loves each one specifically. Jesus appreciates how our needs differ from all others.
This is why He teaches us to pray through themes. Not by the specific words He spoke that day. Not merely reciting these blessed words verbatim. Jesus loves you and I so personally. He desires each prayer to carry immense power.
how to pray. (Jeffery Curtis Poor, ReThink Blog)

DON’T LET US YIELD TO TEMPTATION MEANING — GOD IS OUR STRENGTH
