Jesus’ Emotional Parable the Good Samaritan is To Live Our Life By

This lesson inspires us to be a better person.

To fully appreciate the lesson Jesus is teaching, we need to look a little into the context and characters He uses.

When is simple, first century A.D., Jesus is in His thirties. Where is also simple, Judea, where Jesus and His followers lived and carried out His ministry.

The characters:

  • The priest: A man who claims to teach the things of God, but clearly does not show the love of God.
  • Frock coat: Lawman.
  • Samaritan: Symbolizes Jesus and His true and faithful followers.
  • Injured man: All sinners and believers.
  • Burglars: Satan and his spiritual hosts.

Jesus’ lesson. This story motivates all who take heed, to be the best person they can be.

When asked by a lawyer, “who is my neighbor?” Jesus answers with this inspirational and motivational parable.

This well-educated, and highly respected man in his local community, as so many people. Intends to enter heaven on his own merits. For him, fully complying with each mandate of Jewish law was sufficient.

For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law…
