Jesus Answers Those Who ask Him, Remember Us.
We will be with Him in Paradise. Such a promise from a Lord and Savior who gave His all for us.
And He said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in paradise.” (Luke 23:43, ESV)
Introduction
Luke 23:43 a verse in God’s Holy Word we read with a heart full of gratitude. We are the thief Christ is addressing. The one Jesus replies to with His heart full of love and salvation. We are the thief, the penitent one who asks Jesus to remember. Acknowledging Christ as the King of kings. Who will ascend into His Kingdom. Recognizing our sinfulness. Deserving our cross. Asking Him to remember.
Jesus turns to us. As best He can. The agony this strikes through our beloved Jesus, causes our heart to break. Our Lord has been hanging on His cross for what seems like forever. He turns to us. Christ looks directly into our heart, and sees our plea for forgiveness is genuine. Jesus the King of kings hears the words we speak are humble and true. Christ, God the Son replies. Words that echo down through eternity. To all true penitent sinners nailed to our cross of sin.
Truly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in paradise. (Luke 23:43, ESV)
