In the Trenches. We Turn to Jesus
Life — At times is a spiritual battle field . Jesus fights alongside us. Jesus, the Great Rescuer.
Trenches.
I was in certain danger
Caught in the crossfire of hope and regret.
Thought I could be my own savior
But I’m sinking, sinking fast.’Cause it’s too much to handle
Alone in the battle
I’m desperate for You, Lord!(Siegfried Sassoon, 1918)
Reflection. The phrase, “ fighting the battle of life,” is even more significant. When it involves the spiritual warfare against Satan and his evil forces. Jesus our Great Champion is the ultimate victor over Satan.
Scripture Reading: I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. (Luke 10:19, NIV)
Jesus has given His followers authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy, and that nothing will harm them12. (Bing Search, 20/04/2024)
As true and faithful followers of Jesus our Lord. We face the same battles Jesus fought when He was here. We read of Jesus as He was tempted by Satan in the desert.
Scripture Reading: Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry. The tempter came to Him and said, “If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” (Matthew 4:1–3, NIV)
Jesus knew what it was like to be tempted by Satan. He was tempted by Satan in all the ways we may be. And even more. Jesus was weak and tired after 40 days and nights of fasting. Yet our Lord never for a moment gave into the evil ways of Satan. Jesus knows all the deceptive ways and all the lies of Satan. Jesus is here for us as we face Satan and his evil tactics. Our Lord is alongside us as we face our daily battles. We do not have face our battles alone. With Jesus as our Champion we remain victorious.
Scripture Reading: O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting? For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:55–57, NIV)
As devoted believers in our Heavenly Father. We battle daily. So we can remain united with God Almighty. We fight “the good fight” daily for our eternal souls. We may not realize it. We are severely outmatched.
Satan and his evil servants have thousands of years experience. Satan has plans to separate us from Jesus. Satan is the enemy of Jesus. Satan has all the time in the world. To hamper our journey with Jesus. Thankfully we do not have to fight this spiritual battle alone. Jesus is ever present to shield us from our fears. Jesus our ever loving companion fights alongside us. We are confident. We are victorious always!
Let us be members of Jesus’ army of Prayer Warriors.
A prayer warrior is God’s servant with a spiritual armor that can withstand the schemes of the evil working against the Lord’s Kingdom2.
They are empowered by their faith and trust in God, and will fight their battles through prayer3.
A prayer warrior is someone who is connected to God intimately and consistently seeks to learn more about Him4. (Bing Search, 20/04/20204)
Scripture Reading: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,t will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6–7, NIV)
God the Almighty One has blessed all His beloved children with a wondrous gift — PRAYER. Prayer warriors go the extra mile. This army of Jesus are His foot soldiers. Their hearts are genuinely aligned with the Holy will of Almighty God. The life of a prayer warrior is not easy. To pray from the heart. Is an act of surrender. To release oneself completely to Jesus. For the sake of others.
The life of a Prayer Warrior is a life of wonder. A life of love and at times a life of miracles. We realize what a wondrous gift and a blessing prayer is. God’s gift of prayer is our means of reaching God’s arsenal of spiritual weapons. Diligent and consistent prayer is our bow which has the ability to send Satan on his way. Consistent prayer has the ability to bring about the wonder of miracles. When asked for in prayer to God the Father in faith.
Conclusion. It is through diligent and consistent prayer that Satan finds no foothold in our lives.
You and I experience the love and the presence of Jesus. As a prayer warrior, you and I are Jesus’ foot soldiers. In the warfare against Satan and the evil forces he commands. Jesus has defeated Satan. Sadly Satan does not accept defeat lightly. Satan is fighting for the souls of believers. We stand beside Jesus so Satan does not win any more battles.
