In Amazement. In Awe at the Life of our Beloved Redeemer
Jesus our beloved Redeemer. Offers to all His great love. Jesus extends to all freedom from sin.
I Stand All Amazed.
I stand all amazed at the love Jesus offers me,
Confused at the grace that so fully He proffers me.
I tremble to know that for me He was crucified,
That for me, a sinner, He suffered, He bled and died.
I marvel that He would descend from His throne divine
To rescue a soul so rebellious and proud as mine,
That He should extend His great love unto such as I,
Sufficient to own, to redeem, and to justify.
(Charles H. Gabriel, 1898)
Reflection. Jesus our blessed and beloved Redeemer. Jesus Christ our blessed Savior in humble obedience to the Father God Almighty. Descended from His Heavenly Throne. Jesus extends His great love and undeserved love to all.
Scripture Readings: On the cross, Jesus revealed to us the love of God. The following verses state how the love of God is most clearly revealed at the cross of Jesus:
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16, ESV)
Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends. (John 15:13, ESV)
But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8, ESV) (Real Faith Blog, Mark Driscoll)
We are merely mortal. We all make mistakes. We hurt the One who loves us without question. You and I hammer the nail into Christ’s beloved wrist over and over again. With each sin. We hammer the nail in deeper and deeper. We don’t mean to. We love Jesus our Lord with all our hearts. We truly, personally and deeply love our Lord.
Scripture Reading: They nailed His hands and feet to the cross. The soldiers divided His clothing among themselves by rolling dice to see who would win them. It was nine o’clock in the morning when they finally crucified Him. (Mark 15:24–39 TPT)
How does Christ repay us? With unceasing love and tender forgiveness. We do not earn His love. We definitely do not deserve His repeated forgiveness. Jesus’ love is not given to us because we have earned or deserve it. Jesus gives to us His love. Jesus loves us and He forgives us because He loves us. Jesus is God the Son. God is love. Jesus loves us because He loves us. Jesus Christ by His very nature loves us.
Jesus is our beloved Redeemer. We feel Jesus close by. We feel the love of Jesus guiding us and giving us the strength we need. Jesus does not view us as we do. We see ourselves as the fallen person who hurts our Lord so. We judge ourselves too harshly. We see at times. Only the sin. We see the pain and the scarred wrists. We see only the hurt and the pain.
May our Lord Jesus be forever praised. Jesus sees us as the creation of His Father. Each of us were created in the image of God Almighty. Every person was made in the very likeness of our Creator. This is how Jesus sees us. Each person is the mirror image of His Father. Jesus sees us as the reflection of Almighty God. Imperfect because of our sin, yes? Yet still the creation of our Creator God. Jesus sees us as the beloved of His Heavenly Father. Jesus hates the sin. But loves and forgives over and over again the sinner.
We see only the wounds we cause our Lord by our sin. We see. Oh! Yes, we see.
Try as hard as we can. There are times when we stumble and fall from Almighty God’s grace. We see the pain we cause to our beloved Lord.
Scripture Reading: For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (Romans 3:23–24, NIV)
We love Jesus our Lord and our blessed Savior. The love we have for our Savior is sweet and pure. Christ is our God. We adore Him with all the love in our hearts. We read of His life, and His mission through His precious Gospels. We see the kindness, the compassion and the tenderness in Jesus’ love. We see the way Jesus treats all the people He meets. What we never see. Is judgement in the treatment of others. What we never see is the pulling away from others. Jesus sees people as beloved creations of His Father. What we always see is LOVE. Jesus as the one and only Son of God. God the Son. Jesus Christ is God as the Second Person in the Holy Trinity. Is Fully Man. Is Fully God. God is Love.
The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is fully man and fully God. He has all the attributes of God and is equal to God. He also has all the attributes of man and is born in the likeness of men. He dwells in the fullness of the Godhead bodily. He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
We may not be able to fully comprehend this. It is way beyond the understanding for mortals such as us. We do accept it and believe it completely. Jesus Christ is and always shall be fully man and fully God. Christ Jesus is the one and only Son of God the Father. Jesus descended from His Heavenly Throne to suffer and die in our stead. After three days in His grave. Jesus rose from death so all who accepted Him would live again. In humble obedience to God the Father. Jesus suffered and died on His wicked and soul-saving cross. So, you and I now have eternal life with Him in the Heavenly Kingdom of God.
Today’s audio music video for your inspiration. I hope you enjoy BYU Vocal Point’s A Cappello’s version of this beautiful hymn.
Jesus Christ spent His life serving others. He blessed, healed, taught, and sacrificed so each of us would have a pattern of living to follow that will bring us happiness and lead us Home to our Heavenly Father. As we study the Savior’s teachings, example, and sacrifice, they will take on a deeply personal meaning. We will begin to understand that everything He did was done for us. Coming to know this for yourself is both wonderful and amazing. Watch and listen to BYU’s Vocal Point sing “I Stand All Amazed” in tribute to the life and mission of the Savior.
