Holy Spirit, Our Living Waters
Holy Spirit, a spring of living water essential for life!
We all need water for our mortal bodies to survive. So we all need the living water of the Holy Spirit for our walk of faith.
In Jeremiah 2:13, God refers to Himself as a “spring of living water.” (Refer also to Isaiah 44:3–4) Clean, cool fresh water is vital for life. Without it, we shrivel up and die.
But water is so much more important to us than merely a means of survival. We enjoy a refreshing cool glass of water with our meals. A cool glass of water on a hot summer’s day. Refreshes us and energizes us.
A swim in God’s ocean or lake drenches us in His water. And we are lost in His peace and love. Water is more than a means of survival. Yes, so much more.
The spring of living water is more than just a means of survival for our walk of faith. Jesus, our Rabbi, our teacher in John 6: 35, ESV declares:
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to Me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst.
