Go the Distance.

I have often dreamed of a far off place
Where a hero’s welcome would be waiting for me.
Where the crowds will cheer when they see my face
And a voice keeps saying, “This is where I’m meant to be.”

I’ll be there someday, I can go the distance
I will find my way if I can be strong.
I know every mile will be worth my while
When I go the distance, I’ll be right where I belong.

(David Zippel, 1997)

Reflection. Heaven! Almighty God’s eternal dwelling place. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! Ultimately our future Home.

Scripture Reading: Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also. (John 14:1–3, ESV)

What does the Holy Word of God teach us of our future Heavenly Home? For all faithful believers our future glorious destination and our final goal. Life is a journey of faithful obedience of God’s Holy Law. Our lives are lived one day at a time. We live in humble and in trusting service to Almighty God. Life here on Earth we abide in the Kingdom of God. With Jesus Christ as our Sovereign King and Lord of lords.

Life here is a spiritual journey of faith and belief in God Almighty and His beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Heaven is our future Home. Paradise is our goal. God Almighty is patiently waiting in Heaven to welcome us Home.

The priceless verses and the texts giving our hearts true hope in God’s Holy Word. Speaking of Heaven. They all remind us of the hope and the assurance Jesus Christ brought us. Jesus Christ prepared a Heavenly place for each faithful disciple.

For this world is not our home; we are looking forward to our everlasting home in heaven.

Scripture Reading: Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy, He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil, or fade. This inheritance is kept in Heaven for you. 1 (1 Peter 1:3–4, ESV) (Bing, 06/05/2024)

A life of obedience to Almighty God and to His Holy Law. Reaps a reward of dwelling in His Home with Him. We shall live for eternity with God and His Son, Jesus in Heaven.

Scripture Reading: Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” (John 14:23, ESV)

Being a truthful and a faithful believer in Almighty God. Is a life of humble and loving obedience. To Almighty God and His Holy Law. Oh! Not always. This at times we are fully aware. God our Father does not expect us to struggle on alone. Oh! No.

Our greatest Helper and strength. Is God Himself. We have God Himself as our ever present helper, comforter and supporter. God Himself dwells within each faithful believer. God Himself abides inside in the form of His Spirit. God, the Holy Spirit takes us residences at the moment of our salvation.

The times we are struggling to obey God and His Holy Law. These are the very moments we fall on our knees in prayer. We pray to God for His Spirit’s strength and His guidance. For at these times we cannot obey on our own. Our Father searches our hearts and has given us His Spirit as our ever present Helper.

God’s Holy Spirit enables and empowers us to obey and to serve God. Prayers to the Almighty One is our first step. Asking God to allow His Spirit to guide us an to strengthen us.

Sitting quietly and listening for the Spirit’s guidance and strength. We top up His guidance with relevant verses and texts from the Holy Word of God. Then we pray. We pray. Then we pray some more.

With confidence, faith and trust. God, the Holy Spirit gives us the heart and the strength to obey. Living a life of obedience. Will at times not be easy. This is why some term in as the “fight of faith.” Then there are days of such bliss and joy. When our Father God is so near by. We can reach out our hand and touch Him.

Scripture Reading: As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you. Abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. (John 15:9–12, ESV)

While we wait patiently to go to Heaven. We walk daily in the presence of Almighty God.

Scripture Readings: I will walk in the LORD’s presence in this world of the living. (Psalm 116:9, ESV)

We are the children of the Most High God and we should always walk in His presence. The Lord Himself called us so that we can give up all our fleshly desires and let us put on Christ to walk in God’s righteousness. When we walk in the presence of God, the devil cannot attack us.”3 (Living Bible Verse Blog)

Through prayer and daily Bible study we are brought into the loving presence of God Himself. The more we pray and study His Holy Word. The closer Almighty God draws to us. At the moment of our salvation. Our Heavenly Father adopts us into His Heavenly family.

We are loved by our Heavenly Father in such a deep and such a personal way. Each person who confesses to Jesus of his sin and repents and accepts Jesus fully. Jesus washes clean of his sins. By the pure and sinless blood of the perfect Lamb of God. We are reconciled with our Heavenly Father. God the Father. Adopts each true penitent into His divine family. We live here on Earth. But our true dwelling place. Is the Kingdom of God. With our LORD Jesus as our Sovereign King.
