How He Loves.

Love’s like a hurricane, I am a tree
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory.
And I realize just how beautiful You are
And how great Your affections are for me.

And we are His portion and He is our prize
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes.
If His grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking
And Heaven meets Earth like an unforeseen kiss
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest.
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets
When I think about, the way.

(John Mark McMillan, 2002)

Introduction. How did Jesus say, “I love you?” Jesus our Lord left His Father. Jesus left His Heavenly throne. Christ came to Earth. Jesus the Messiah said, “I love you.” Not in words. Jesus’ LOVE is shown in His actions.

Jesus is God the Son. God is love. Our Savior speaks “I love you” for over two millennia. Jesus speaks these three life changing words for eternity. Stepping down from Heaven to Earth. Jesus left His Father. Where He shared peace and such divine love. Leaving the eternal companionship of His Father God. Jesus shows us and all humanity His everlasting love.

Jesus entered a world in turmoil. A world lost in the darkness of sin. What a crazy world Jesus came into. Jesus speaks to the entire world, “I love you.” Leaving all the heavenly angels. Who worshipped and obeyed His every command. Coming to a humanity lost to His love. Jesus speaks to the entire world, “I love you.”

Sadness, turmoil and the darkness of sin. Run very deep in our world today. It is through Jesus’ three words, “I love you.” We witness how very much Jesus speaks to the world. Our Lord speaks His love and His hope for a brighter future. For all God’s people. No matter who we are, where we are or when we are living. Jesus speaks hope and love into the hearts of all people. To all those willing to listen.

Jesus speaks to our hearts, “I love you.” By His tender touch. Through Jesus’ healing words and His comforting presence. Jesus once more whispers, “I love you.” When asked through a prayer for a miracle to God the Father. Jesus performs His miracles still. Another wondrous way in which our Lord speaks, “I love you.” To all God’s people — EVERYWHERE.

“I love you.” Three powerful and wondrous words. Jesus’ love in action. With these three words of love and divine power. Jesus changes lives and opens hearts. Jesus is God the Son. This being so. Jesus has all the power of God Almighty. Therefore, nothing for Jesus is impossible. Absolutely nothing.

Scripture Reading: For nothing will be impossible with God. (Luke 1:37, ESV)

Jesus was not forced to leave His Father in Heaven. Jesus our Lord chose to. Why? Because Jesus loves the entire world. Jesus Christ loves all God’s people.

Jesus our LORD. Christ spoke of His love. Jesus our Lord chose to love the entire world. God the Son chose to love us. With His arms outstretched. Christ hung on His wicked and His cruel cross. Jesus showed to the entire world, “I love you.”

Scripture Reading: But He was pierced for our transgressions;
He was crushed for our iniquities;
upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with His wounds we are healed. (Isaiah, 53:5, ESV)

In this article we are focusing on Jesus as our loving companion. Jesus loves each of His disciples. This of course, includes you, and me. All those following Him and His teachings today. Jesus is our Lord and our Teacher. Jesus is saying to all His disciples down through the ages. “I love you.”

Through these three words, “I love you.” Which are demonstrated clearly in the Gospels. Jesus brings hope, peace and His everlasting love. Jesus’ loves brings hope to all His disciples. And all those who have hearts open to His teachings.

Jesus is spending time with the people He loves. Our LORD is with us through the Holy Word of God. Jesus is loving us through the Gospels. Jesus our Lord is speaking to us, “I love you.” When we reach for our Bible. When we read His teachings and His dealings with His disciples. These three words, “I love you.” Bring such hope. For we feel His presence as we read of His love for us.

Our Lord’s love brings hope. Even on the darkest of our days. We can picture His disciples in the upper room. On the eve of His crucifixion. Being comforted by their Lord. As He touched the heart of each of His beloved friends. As Jesus spent time with each one. Personally comforting the heart of each one. Personally showing each one. With His actions showing each one, once more, “I love you.”

Jesus, sees into our hearts. As He sits with us. In our sadness. Jesus sits patiently with us. He reaches out. Jesus takes our hand in His. As tears streak our cheeks. He wipes away each tear. He looks softly into our hearts. Jesus speaks the words our hearts so desperately need to hear. “I love you.” Our sadness is lifted. Our dark day is brightened. Jesus’ love has lifted us once more into the light of His love. As we sit quietly with Him, reading our Bible.

Even on the darkest of our days. With our Lord Jesus at our side. Through the Holy Word of God. Jesus speaks to our hearts, “I love you.” Jesus gives all His disciples and all people with hearts open to hear. Hope for a brighter tomorrow. Yes! We all have days when life seems bleak and empty. Jesus touches our hand and our hearts. With His three words, “I love you.” Through the loving Holy Word of God.

Conclusion. How does Jesus our Lord speak of His love. Through His healing touch. Through His Gospels. Through His powerful words, “I love you.”
