Faith, Holy Spirit
God’s Spirit is the Giver of Life
The Creator God made life. The Holy Spirit gave life.
THE HOLY SPIRIT IS GOD. HOLY TRINITY — GOD THE FATHER, SON and HOLY SPIRIT.
“The Holy Spirit: God’s whisper in a world of noise.” “Like wind unseen, the Holy Spirit moves hearts and changes lives.” “In the silence, the Holy Spirit speaks volumes.” “God’s love, made tangible through the Holy Spirit’s embrace.” “The Holy Spirit: our inner GPS for life’s winding roads.” (https://quotenestle.com)
Reflection. All life depends upon the Spirit of God. The whisper of God’s love.
Scripture Reading:
“And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” (Romans 5:5, ESV)
In the Epistle Romans, Saint Paul encourages you to live in the Spirit. He beseeches you to always live a holy and righteous life. Your Lord and God, Jesus, is the reason for your life. The Father is the core of your existence. Life for you is a pilgrimage. A journey of faith. A quest for holiness. Made possible by the indwelling of God, the Holy Spirit. God’s Spirit opens doors, otherwise left closed. He shows you the way. When life is at a crossroads. When you are uncertain which way God wants you to follow. It is God, the Holy Spirit, who shows you the way.
You have days when you feel like you are struggling alone. When you want more than anything. To live a holy and righteous life. You fight with all you might. But still sin creeps in. You have forgotten. You are not alone. Almighty God has placed within you. A helper. A comforter. God has placed within your heart His Spirit. You are not alone. You are never alone.
Scripture Readings:
“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever.” (John 14:16, NIV)
The “Sword of the Spirit” demonstrates the power yielded by God, the Holy Spirit. He instils in you the desire to be the mirror image of Jesus. Your walk-in faith has its foundation in God’s Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God. God is eternally holy and righteous. God is perfect. God is love. God’s love for you is perfect and eternal. It is the urging of God’s Spirit from within you. It is who is urging you to become more like Jesus, holy and righteous.
God, the Holy Spirit, is God’s presence and power.
Scripture Reading:
“Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.” (Zechariah 4:6, ESV)
Times when you want to be more like your Lord and God, Jesus. It is the still, small voice of God, the Holy Spirit pleading for you. In these life-changing moments. When you are discontent and want to grow closer to Jesus. It is the quiet coaxing of God’s Spirit. Speaking to your heart. Gently driving you to love God and others more deeply. You realise the time is now. This is when God the Holy Spirit steps in and gives you the power to change.
You are certain. You are positive in your belief. In need of spiritual change. You turn to the Holy Word of God. On your knees, you pray to God in Heaven. You ask for guidance once more from His Spirit. God’s Spirit shows you how to love more. To maintain and grow in faith, hope, and peace. God’s Spirit within quietly and powerfully stirs your desire. That each day you act to do what God requires of you.
Holiness, righteous living and God the Holy Spirit.
The word holiness has been termed as one “devoted to God.” To be apart from this world. Perhaps you can picture it as listening and dancing to the tune and divine notes of the Holy Spirit. As soldiers of old marched to the call of the Scottish bagpipes playing skillfully, “Amazing Grace.”
You have decided that now is the time to become more like Jesus. Righteous and holy before God. You desire with all your heart and all your soul. To become truly devoted to God the Father. For this to transform your life. To truly change you. You want to live each moment for Jesus.
What changes are brought about in your life? By the power of the indwelling of God’s Spirit.
Firstly, prayer, meditation, and the diligent study of His Holy Word. Prayer, a gift from Almighty God. Prayer is your connection to the One who loves you so. God, the Holy Spirit intercedes on your behalf when you cannot find the words. God’s Spirit speaks for you when you are in pain or heartbroken. When you are reading and studying the Holy Word of God. It is God’s Spirit who teaches you the meaning behind each word.
Put into action the love for God and others in works of charity. There is so much poverty and sickness all around you. You follow Jesus’ example and love those who seek your help. Once again, you lean on the strength and courage of God’s Spirit. God Almighty has provided the resources needed. Jesus, the Son, has shown you how to love those around you. God, the Holy Spirit will provide you with the strength, words and courage needed. It is God’s Spirit who is with you. It is God’s Spirit who accompanies you.
And finally, with the power of the Holy Spirit within. You work to make yourself holy. This is not an instant fix. It takes a lifetime. You progressively become more and more like Jesus. You, with gradual self-discipline, become holy. These disciplines are only made possible with the power and help of the indwelling of God the Holy Spirit.
Sanctification, the transformative work of God the Holy Spirit. Within to help you become holy and more like Jesus
Scripture Readings:
“According to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood.” (1 Peter 1:2, ESV)
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 5:23, ESV)
This lifelong pilgrimage began with your realisation of your need to change. You saw that on your own, you are mired down in your own helplessness. You opened your heart and spirit and surrendered to the workings of God the Holy Spirit.
With the power of God’s Spirit and by obeying the spiritual disciplines of prayer. With a deep love for God and others. You progressively walk toward a life of righteousness. A life holy before God. The centre of your walk-in faith. The destination of your pilgrimage toward holiness progresses daily. You completely and honestly surrender to God your Father. In allegiance to Him. With a deep and sincere love for Him and others. What symbolises your holiness is your total devotion to God Almighty.
Your life is transformed. Your heart overflows with love for God and others. Peace fills your heart and your life. You step lighter through life somehow. God is closer than He has ever been. The Bible is more real, more alive, more filled with love than ever before.
God is not some distant deity off in His heaven. He is real. He resides within each of His children as God the Holy Spirit. His Spirit has shown you that life is not an option for holy and righteous living. Love for God. Love for others is holiness, is righteous living. You remember, and you are thankful.
God is love.
Conclusion. God’s Spirit is the Giver of Life. The Creator God made life. The Holy Spirit gave life.
