God’s Love is The Centerpiece of the Old Testament
In truth, God’s character. His patience with mankind is revealed in the first half of the Bible.
Introduction. Almighty God’s love revealed in the Old Testament.
The first half of the Bible reveals many of God’s divine attributes. God is love. Therefore, the Old Testament is ruled by His love. God’s love is revealed time after time, by His patience with mankind.
This starts with Genesis. Where man, Adam and Eve, started their journey of love. Then rebellion against their Creator.
LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. (Genesis 2:7, ESV)
Almighty God made man to love Him. To have a deep and personal companionship with Him. To be loved by Him. To be His beloved creation. We had it all. A God who created us all creation. The perfect Garden, a garden God named ‘Eden’, His ‘delights.’ The one thing God forbade. Except, yes, except.
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” (Genesis 2:16–17, ESV)
