God’s Love for us, in Powerful and Relevant Parables
God rejoices in heaven when a lost one is found.
Jesus’ two parables, the Lost Sheep and the Lost Coin, reveal the abundant love of God.
Along with the Prodigal Son, these lessons are referred to by Jesus as one parable in three parts. (Luke 15:3)
- The Lost Sheep — speaks of the love of GOD the SON, (the Good Shepherd);
- The Lost Coin — speaks of the love of GOD, the HOLY SPIRIT; and
- The Prodigal Son — speaks of the love of GOD the FATHER.
Each of these stories demonstrate how:
Even if you were the only sinner in the world, Jesus would have come to die for you! God loves you personally. “There is more joy in heaven over ONE sinner who repents than the 99.” This proves that God has a special, passionate love for each of us individually. (“Luke 15:3, Parable of God’s Love,” Oxford Bible Church Blog, 2023.)
The Master’s teaching of the one sheep that went astray is pointing to God’s ultimate plan for mankind’s redemption.
The sheep that wandered off pictures a sinner who looses her way from God. This lost soul faces eternity separated from God’s protective presence if not brought back to the fold, the Kingdom of God.
