God Wants You To Be Happy
True Happiness Comes From God — It Lasts!
I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil — this is God’s gift to man. Ecclesiastes 3:12–13
Paul’s article: “Does God Want Us To Be Happy” is truly worth reading about this essential topic.
“He is the source of all joy. He is the fountain of all life.” Paul Walker
Joy — God’s Gift to Man
Does God want us to be happy? When the Holy Bible was translated into English many people used the word “blessed” instead of “happy.” They both have the same meaning. So when Luke the Apostle reported our Lord saying: “Blessed are those who hear the Word of God and keep it.” (Luke 11:28) He was stating that Jesus was teaching us that those who hear the Word of God and keep it are happy. I like the sound of that. Don’t you?
When you search the Scriptures for how to find true happiness with and in God. You will find literally hundreds of places for you to study and meditate. The Holy Bible is filled with verses that include: blessed, joy, and glad. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” (Matthew 5:6) I feel therefore it is important to God that we are happy. But not this world’s kind of happiness. A Godly kind of happiness. A happiness that is built on our Lord, Christ Jesus.
I have often pondered why Jesus attracted such large crowds to His teachings. So many, at times thousands of people were drawn to sit in the shade of large trees around a lake. Sit and listen to His words of wisdom. He spoke to their hearts promising them something each person that has ever lived craves. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” (Romans 15:13) Jesus spoke of true happiness and lasting peace.
No wonder so many people were drawn to His teachings. This is what I crave each and every day of my life. How about you? Jesus offers true happiness, peace and hope. “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” (John 15:11) I believe Jesus is saying that if you obey His commands to love God the Father and your fellow man. Jesus wants you to be truly happy. At peace and have true hope for a future in paradise with God. For me, there is no stronger conformation than that!
The Apostle Paul penned the letter Philippians and in it: “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me”. Even in harsh times, Jesus’ blessings are to be found. This is what I meant when I said that true happiness from God our Father lasts. Sorrow and sadness are only temporary when handed over to God. “And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19) The true happiness that is found in Christ Jesus gives you inner peace and calms your soul. No matter what is happening in your life.
Place your cares in the loving and caring hands of God your Heavenly Father. No matter how trying your situation may be. Even when sadness brings tears of bitterness. Jesus will fill your heart with peace and contentment. Turning to God’s Word will show so many ways in how He wants you to be blessed. To be happy. On what Jesus our Lord taught on obtaining and keeping true happiness.
How can we be rich towards God? Through prayer. Through a relationship with Him.
You, like me, know you are unable to solve your problems without God your Father.
“It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God.” (Luke 6:12) We see Jesus pray so often lovingly and tenderly to “abba” His Father. Seek the love and comfort of His Father in prayer and companionship.
At the close of another day answering the needs of others. At the close of a day teaching His beloved disciples and Apostles the Gospel of the kingdom of God. At the close of another day of healing the sick and performing miracles in the name of His Father. At the close of each day, He spends time in the presence of His Father. “But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.”(Luke 5:16) Jesus seeks solace, the peace that is found in quiet time with His Father in prayer. His heart is open. His words are clear and sincere. He is in the loving presence of “abba” His dearest and beloved Father. He is at peace once more.
You and I can receive this life. Be rich towards God. This prayer life of Jesus. Live as sons and daughters of God. We are part of His heavenly family. God is our Father. We can pray to Him anytime, anywhere. Whatever the situation. We can share it with Him. In the Name of Jesus, God the Son. And be content. Dare I say be happy in God?
Strength, peace and genuine happiness are to be found through true faith and trust in Christ Jesus. “I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace.” (John 16:33a) Jesus realizes that life for you has its ups and downs. He promises you His peace. His peace will calm your heart and soul.
Jesus promises you a life of fulness of joy [happiness] and strength for spirit, soul and body. “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10b) We wonder in our time of sorrow. When we are anxious in our times of need. What does Jesus mean by a life of abundance? God’s goodness is stored up for you when you need it the most.
Like farmers store grain in a storage shed. All you need to do is to ask in prayer. God is wise and full of love and sets aside what you need for when you need it.
Knowledge — With God, it is more than just knowing about God, Son and Holy Spirit. It is actually getting to know God, Son and the Holy Spirit on a very personal and intimate level. “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.” (Ephesians 1:17) This can only be achieved by a thorough searching and understanding of the Scriptures. And living your life as a living sacrifice to God.
The closer you get to God the more blessed by Him you become. The happier and more peaceful your life is. Because you turn to His Word daily you are blessed with His wisdom. Finding the things that God loves and love them also. For instance, Jesus loved helping people and spending time with the poor and destitute. You too can find ways to help other people less fortunate than yourself. “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his deed.” (Proverbs 19:17) You will find joy in doing this. True blessings from God Himself.
God wants you to be happy. This is only possible through a loving and obedient relationship with Him. Living your life to glorify and (dare I say) enjoy Him. Spending time daily in His presence. Searching and meditating on His Word. Seeking His presence often in prayer.
