God is the Light in Our Hearts

Reflection. Darkness is the way of this world. God shines the light of His love. God’s light is the way to Him.
Scripture Reading: Even the darkness is not dark to You,
And the night is as bright as the day.
Darkness and light are alike to You. (Psalm 139:12, ESV)
Why is this so, do you think? For me the answer is simple. Because God is God. God is love. In God, there is no darkness. For darkness is our sin. In God, there is no sin. God is perfection. There is no imperfection or fault in Almighty God. So, it is very true when God states, that darkness and light are alike.
God is love. Therefore, everywhere God goes, is light. Perfect and pure light. You and I can take great comfort from this. We are God’s adopted children. We are also children of the light of Jesus. We walk in the light and love of Almighty God. When we love Almighty God with all our hearts and souls. When we obey the Holy Law of God and His Commandments. We remain as the children of light. There will be no darkness in us.
God has given us the greatest of gifts. Our Heavenly Father has given us His light. Let us walk in His light. Let us shine His light onto the hearts of others.
Scripture Reading: For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light, for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth. Test and prove what pleases the Lord. (Ephesians 5:8–10, ESV)
We remember our lives before Jesus. We remember our lives before we said yes, to His gift — salvation. We remember the constant feeling of darkness and isolation. We remember the feeling of needing to be loved. We remember the constant darkness. We remember light just being out of our reach. We remember….
Then, may Almighty God be praised. We saw the light. Whether it was in a small country church on a hill. As it was for me. Or in a large city evangelic gathering. We saw the light. We answered the call from Jesus, our Savior. We say, “yes.” To Almighty God’s question. Do you believe I raised Jesus your Lord from death to life? Do you?
We are saved. Through the perfect and precious blood of the Lamb of God. Our sins are removed. They are taken away. As far from us. As the east is from the west. We are now and for eternity. The children of the light of Almighty God. We are blessed. We are loved. So deeply and personally loved.
How do we live constantly in the light of Almighty God?
Saint Paul tells us in his letter to the Ephesians. To live a life of God’s light. We have to live a life of goodness. How exactly do we achieve this?
Scripture Reading: Only take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, to keep His commandments, to hold fast to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul. (Joshua 22:5, ESV)
We ask of ourselves. Is this at all possible? We are only human after all. Then we remember. We have God the Holy Spirit residing within us. When we are weak. God is strong. When we are weary. God never sleeps. When we feel alone and isolated. God, our Heavenly Father never leaves us alone. When we are a little sad. God, the Holy Spirit comforts us. When we are so happy. We are jumping for joy. God in Heaven and His angels are singing along with us.
Yes, with the help and the strength of God, the Holy Spirit. We can and do obey God’s commandments. It is never easy. God never said it was going to be easy. But the reward. A lifetime. Eternity in the Kingdom of Heaven.
We remain as children of light. By remaining in the truth of God. By reading the Holy Word of God.

Sanctify them in the truth; Your Word is truth. (John 17:17, ESV)
Do we realise that the truth of Almighty God is pure beauty? When we read of the love of God in His Holy Word. Our hearts are overtaken with sheer delight. Yes, God and His love is pure beauty. For God is perfection in its pure beauty.
