God is Great! All Creation Displays God’s Glory
When we look up. We sing of God’s greatness.
How Great Thou Art!
When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze. And then proclaim: “My God, how great Thou art!”
(Carl Bobert, 1886)
Introduction. Almighty God inspires and sustains our faith. Through His might and His wonders.
Scripture Readings: To Him who alone does great wonders,
for His steadfast love endures forever. (Psalm 136:4, ESV)Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the Earth; Yours is the dominion, O Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all. (Chronicles 29:11, ESV)
It matters not where we wander. Almighty God’s artistry and His power are on magnificent display. Before our very eyes. Our Creator, God is great and amazing. Far beyond human understanding. God’s might and His magnificence are viewed in all He created.
God’s splendor is peaked under a microscope. As His bacteria perform for Him their ballet. In His honor and for His glory. Almighty God’s power is demonstrated in an erupting volcano. Such power — yet at the same time — such beauty.
Artists, sculptors, writers of poems, songs and books. All tell of God’s beauty in nature and in His universe up above. All our creator made. God created for His own glory. And to bless and to love His people.
From the microscopic beauty of God’s bacteria. To the might and magnificence of our very own Milky Way galaxy. All the power and grandeur and the wonder it contains. Point us to its Creator, God. The ever-expanding universe draws our praise. And our imaginations toward the greatness of Almighty God.
Scripture Reading: Lift up your eyes on high and see:
who created these?
He who brings out their host by number,
calling them all by name;
by the greatness of His might
and because He is strong in power,
not one is missing. (Isaiah 40:26, ESV)
The expanse of our galaxy. And all it contains belongs to it Creator.
When a little sad and down we may be. There is never a better “pick-me-up”. Stepping out into God’s wonderland. Simply breathing in God’s freshness and His crispness. Brings us back to life once more.
Experiencing the fullness of God and His wondrous love through His creations. Means we need to listen. Truly listen. You and I take the time and the effort to learn how to listen to God’s through His creations.
Then we surely hear the soft and the melodic tune of God’s swallow. As she sings softly to her mate, her love song. At the dawn of God’s brand-new day. She sings her love song. Experiencing His creations through listening. Truly listening to her melody. Brings God’s love deep into our hearts.
What else does her merry love tune speak of God. God’s swallow’s love song lifts our sad heart to God’s love. Our sadness drifts away. As her melody drifts away on God’s gentle breeze.
Our love for her creator lifts us to God’s heart. Our worries and our concerns also float away on God’s soft breezes. Yes, learning to listen, truly listen to God. Brings such blessings. Brings us the love of God. We listen with all our hearts. With all our being. To God’s swallow. To all of God’s creations. Silently and in prayer. WE LISTEN.
What else do our sad hearts learn? Even on the stormiest days. Even when the sun is hidden through the darkest and the thickest clouds. Our Creator’s sun is merely hidden from our view.
God Almighty longs to shine His love on to us. God will surely push the darkest and the thickest clouds aside. No matter how black the storm is. The sun will glimpse through. She always does.
Scripture Reading: The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, over many waters. (Psalm 29:3, ESV)
Our God’s love will sing in our hearts. As we sit quietly and truly listen to the melodic tune of His swallow. Our Father’s light will surely shine upon us. In the darkness on our storm. As we stand. And we watch as God pushes aside. Our cares and our worries.
Through the wonder, the majesty and the magnificence of nature. The song of God’s birds. Through the light and the warmth of His sun. You and I are reminded of His love. We are radiated once more by the light and the warmth of God’s love. And the light of His teachings. The darkness of our storm. Are a mere distant memory.
In our songs of praise. In our prayers. We proclaim, “My God, how great Thou art!”
Great men stand like solitary towers in the city of God. (Henry Wadsworth Longfellow)
The virtue of Love is nothing and all, or that Nothing visible out of which All Things proceed. Its power is through All Things; its height is as high as God; its greatness is as great as God. (Jakob Bohme)
In God’s wonderland. We stand in silence. We listen, we truly listen. As God our Heavenly Father speaks to us.
- All creation displays God’s greatness.
- All nature whispers to us God’s love.
- We praise Him in prayer.
- For all the wonders and the greatness which are on display.
