God Holds Our Hearts. Make Room in Our Hearts For God
Make room for Almighty God and His love in our hearts.
Scripture Reading: Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16 ESV)
Reflection. A Bible study into placing God, the Holy Spirit into our hearts.
The Temple in the Old Testament.
To fully grasp what Paul means in 1 Corinthians 3:16, it helps to understand what the temple meant to the Jews. In the Old Testament, the temple in Jerusalem was the center of Jewish worship. It was a holy place where God’s presence resided and where sacrifices were made to atone for sins. Only the high priest could enter the Most Holy Place where the Ark of the Covenant was kept. Have you ever been asked if you smoke or drink? When I am. I gently smile. My answer is, “Oh! No, my body is the temple of God, the Holy Spirit. I could not do this to Him.” I am so very serious. How could we insult God in this fashion? How could we? Yes, it is true. We sin and hurt Almighty God in so many other ways. But in this, we stay true.
