God Grants to us Such Love Every Day, in His Mercy we Abide
In His holy presence we always live.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm 23:6, ESV)
The Psalmist, through this verse, leads us further into our Lord’s goodness and mercy. David lived a long and eventful life. He felt God’s steadfast love every step of the way. Life was never easy for our Psalmist. Either as a shepherd boy or later as the king of the nation of Israel.
He taught us that God is with us each day throughout our life. Our Father wipes each tear and shares our gladness. In His Holy presence, we walk in love and with His blessings, all of our life.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me, Our God. Our Father’s love for us.
As a young shepherd boy, David had to be constantly alert for the presence of wolves. These predators followed him and his flock as they grazed from pasture to pasture.
But, who is it who pursued David in Psalm 23? What is it that chased and followed him each day? It was God and His goodness and mercy, our Good Shepherd. David was being chased by God and His love for Him. For his entire life.
