God Does Not to Still the Storm. He Does Keep us Safe
In the storms of our lives. His love and strength will guide us through.
THROUGH THIS ARTICLE. LET US FIND OUR REFUGE IN GOD AND HIM ALONE.
One day after a long journey, I rested in front of a house. Suddenly a sparrow came towards me blown helplessly by a strong wind. From another direction, an eagle dived to catch the panicky sparrow. Threatened from different directions, the sparrow flew into my lap. By choice, it would not normally do that. However, the little bird was seeking for a refuge from a great danger. Likewise, the violent winds of suffering and trouble blow us into the Lord’s protective hands. (Sadhu Sundar Singh)
Reflection. We face many dangers. Almighty God promises to keep us safe in His Holy presence.
Scripture Reading: God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1, ESV)
I woke up this morning as I always do. In silent prayer. A prayer of gratitude, from my heart to my Lord. I softly sang a hymn of praise. Stepping from my bed. Vowing to care for and tend to the needs of those He sends my way. Following in the footsteps of my Lord Jesus. Always in the footsteps of my Lord.
Speaking words of kindness and compassion. Acting with the tenderness and the love of Jesus. In this way. I am faithfully shining the light of Jesus. Into the sad and lonely hearts of those I meet. Then I usher a prayer. To Almighty God. That He may touch their hearts with His endless love. That this lost and lonely soul. May find her way Home to God.
This brand-new day begins with an attitude of true reverence and sincere love. For the One who is my refuge. Almighty God is my true and peaceful resting place. My Heavenly Father is the centre of my universe. He is the reason and the purpose for my existence. Without God, I wither and die. Without God. There would be. Perpetual darkness. The darkness of my sins. Without God, I am nothing and no one.
Then a phone call. Then our world comes crashing down. We need God’s strength and help once more. We turn to Him. We feel His nearness.
If the Lord be with us, we have no cause of fear. His eye is upon us, His arm over us, His ear open to our prayer — His grace sufficient, His promise unchangeable. (John Newton)
Even on the brightest of our days. Darkness threatens. Even when the sun is at its brightest. The grey clouds threaten to take God’s light and His love away.
The stormy winds of troubles threaten to darken our bright day. The grey clouds of worry. Cover the sunshine of God’s light and His love. But, nothing. Absolutely nothing can separate us from God and His healing love. The storm of our troubles may threaten. The winds of our heartache may blow from without. The clouds of sadness may cross between God and us. He is still there. Almighty God and His love are always there. Forever waiting. God reaches out His mighty hand to us. We reach out, with hearts about to break. We reach out to Him.
There is a quietness that washes over our hearts. A quietness we have grown accustomed to. The quietness of God Almighty Himself. We through our prayer. We have returned to the loving presence of the One. We love God more than any other. You and I are once more in the presence.
In the presence of the One. Whose peace soothes and calms our troubled hearts. We are in the refuge of the One. Whose strength and courage have transformed our troubles into victory. We are in the safety of the One who never fails us. We are in the presence of the One. Whose protective hand reached down and saved us. Saved us from the fear within our hearts.
We remember God’s promise. We have God’s wondrous gift. We have prayer.
Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; ’Tis grace has brought me safe thus far and grace will lead me Home. (John Newton)
We once again turn to Almighty God in prayer. We once more kneel before God’s heavenly throne in prayer. Again it is God’s grace and His love that leads us Home.
Scripture Reading: The Lord is near to all who call upon Him,
To all who call upon Him in truth.
He will fulfil the desire of those who fear Him;
He will also hear their cry and will save them. (Psalm 145:18–19, ESV)
So it is with life. We have stepped out of bed. With a prayer of gratitude. We have faced our brand-new day with optimism and God’s gift of hope. Our hearts are filled with the love of God. All is well with our world. Then this phone call. Our world has been turned upside down. But, not all is lost. Today, as always. We are not alone. We are never alone.
We, with Almighty God, have faced trouble and come out victorious. This day is added to our arsenal of lessons of life. For all our troubles, trials and heartaches are just this. They are lessons sent by God for our good. Lessons that Almighty God has promised are never too heavy for us to carry. Lessons that we do not struggle through alone. Lessons that are given for our good.
Conclusion. As we look back. We see that all our lessons have given us the courage and the strength to be conquerors.
The sun has broken through. The grey clouds have disappeared. The winds of our troubles are a mere distant memory. Life is good. Almighty God is GREAT.
Almighty God is our refuge and our strength. God is always there for us when needed. All we need to do is to ask Him. All we need to do. Is to kneel before God in prayer.
We remain always in the loving presence of Almighty God. Through His wondrous and loving gift — PRAYER.
