Holy! Holy! Holy!

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee,
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hides Thee,
Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see,
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in pow’r, in love, and purity. (Reginald Heber, 1826)

Introduction. Almighty God is praised and worshiped in many Psalms. In particular, Psalm 145. A Psalm of praise written by King David.

Scripture Reading: A Psalm of Praise. Of David.

I will exalt You, my God the King,
I will praise Your name for ever and ever.

Every day I will praise You,
and extol Your name for ever and ever.

Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise,
His greatness no one can fathom. (Psalm 145:1–3, ESV)

Almighty God, Supreme and Sovereign Ruler of the entire universe. We owe to Him worship and praise now and for eternity. King David emphasized that Almighty God is both great and good. And so, He is.

We all love to raise our voices to Heaven in songs of praise as did King David. The Psalmist’s final song of praise to Almighty God. His swan song, so to speak. King David’s last “Hallelujah.” Psalm 145, a Psalm of Praise, many refer to as his crowning jewel of worship and praise.

All God’s angels and Heavenly beings sing to Him their praise. We shall join them.

Praise, the Heavenly choirs in their multitudes sing to God. God’s angels in numbers beyond human comprehension bow their knees to God in song. All combine in perfect harmony to sing their praise to and for Almighty God for eternity. You and I shall join along with all of Jesus’ Saints. We shall raise our harmonic voices in glorious praise to our Heavenly Father.

Yes! When God has welcomed us, Home. You and I shall spend eternity singing along with His Heavenly choir.

So, let us get in as much practice here on Earth as we can. Let us put the world on fire. As we sing to God our praise. Let all around see show our hearts are ablaze with God’s love. Jesus’ love overflows in our heart so. We are bursting with joy and gladness so. We burst into songs of praise for our love to Him.

Yes! Let us practice singing God’s praises much here on Earth. And merrily invite the world to join us.

Scripture Reading: so that all people may know of Your mighty acts.
and the glorious splendor of Your Kingdom. (Psalm 145: 12, ESV)

Psalm 145 is a glad and a joyful Psalm. A happy song of praise and love from King David to His beloved God. Psalm 145 is where the sun is shining all day, every day. Not a sign of a stormy cloud on the horizon anywhere to be seen.

King David’s Psalm 145 sings to God his praise. Psalm 145 brings to us Gods soothing and calming peace.

Psalm 145 is a psalm in which David explicitly gives five distinct characteristics of God, and they all begin with the letter “G.”

* God’s greatness

* God’s goodness

* God’s glory

* God’s guarantee

* God’s grace.

All of these G’s should give us peace daily and eternal hope. (Dee Fulcher)

God’s Greatness

Scripture Reading: They tell of the power of Your awesome works —
and I will proclaim Your great deeds. (Psalm 145:6, ESV)

King David’s initial verses emphasize God’s greatness and His magnificence. I agree totally with David. Almighty God in His Heavens, His works are far too great for human minds to comprehend. He surely is great indeed.

Almighty God’s greatness is so far beyond our understanding. You and I will never be able to put it into words how great He surely is. We simply bow our heads in prayer. Lift our voices in joyful songs of praise. We let God, the Holy Spirit fill our song with words of love and thanksgiving. If even, then the words are not found. The Spirit will intercede on our behalf.

Scripture Reading: In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. (Romans 8:26–27, NIV)

Scripture Reading: God’s Glory

They tell of the glory of Your Kingdom,
and speak of Your might,
so, that all people may know of your mighty acts,
and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
Your Kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and Your dominion endures through all generations. (Psalm 145:11–13, NIV)

God’s Glory.

King David describes the Kingdom of God as glorious. He describes the acts of Almighty God as mighty, as indeed they surely are. God’s glory is manifest throughout the universe and in all it includes. We only need to step out on a clear and starry night. To see and feel the glory of God Almighty surrounding us. Each star dims in comparison. To the brightness and the glory of God Himself.

At the other end of the spectrum. Spy down the end of a microscope. Glimpse into the microscopic world of bacteria. Without which all other animal life would not exist. Watch them perform their ballet for God, their creator. Yes, we as did David. Sing our praises to God our Father.

All of creation demonstrates the glory of Almighty God.

Then when we are thinking of the glory of God. Well, our Heavenly Father has glory in abundance, doesn’t He? It would take all the books, in all the libraries, in all the countries. In all the world to tell of His love. And still, this would not be enough to sing of His glory.

But we shall have fun trying. God fills us with His love and His joy as we sing His praises forever more. When we look at our beloved children and other members of our family. We see in them the glory of our Heavenly Father. For each of these treasures are a gift from God Almighty. Each person we meet is an image of their Creator God. In the likeness of God Himself are they made.

Conclusion. God Almighty, is Like No Other. Compassionate and Gracious. The Lord, God Almighty comforts and strengthens. Turn to Him in times of distress.

  • This article is my way of praising and worshiping our Heavenly Father.
  • As you re-read Psalm 145. I pray you sing along with King David and God’s angels. And give to God Almighty the praise and worship He deserves.
  • We just need to look around us to witness His glory and feel His goodness. Mighty and magnificent is He.
  • We bathe each day in God’s love.
  • We sing today and for eternity God’s praises. Amen!
