Getting To Know God the Father
Know God as a Loving Heavenly Father!
So we see what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God, and so we are. 1 John 3:1
Michael’s article: “His Universal Bestowal of Love” is enlightening.
It is such a wonder. So amazing to me. That I, who at times must be so disappointing to God our Father. Still, He loves me. Still cares for me when I am sad or lonely. Still guides me when I am lost. His right hand is holding mine, comforting me. I am still His child, still His daughter. I have done nothing to earn this blessing. This gift of His grace. “And I will be a Father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to Me, says the LORD Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:18)
God, the Father’s love for you is so sincere. So genuine, that nothing can separate you from His caring. When you search His word each day it will prove to you His power to fulfil all His promises. Scattered throughout the Scriptures are oh! so many promises of His love. Just turn to the word “love” in your Concordance. It reveals many, many verses for your strength and comfort. You are loved by the Creator of all things. There is nothing greater than that.
God’s love for you, His child is oh! so patient. “Praise the Lord! Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever!” (Psalm 106:1) Can you imagine the patience it must take for God the Father to keep loving humanity? He made man in His image to love Him and to be loved by Him. And how did we respond to this remarkable act of creation? This tremendous outpouring of His love?
By going our own way. He has patiently waited for many thousands of years. For us to see that our way only gets us into trouble. And when we realize God the Father is patiently waiting. Patiently waiting, with loving arms outstretched for you.
When you and I place our complete faith in our salvation through His Son, Christ Jesus. We can run into the open and loving arms of God our Heavenly Father. “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16) As His child, you have complete and open access to Him. You can turn to Him in prayer. Your loving Father’s ear is readily listening and focused on your heartfelt words. His tender heart is filled with the love of Heaven for you His adopted Child.
You and I sometimes feel unworthy to be called a child of God. As hard as we try we at times fall short of God’s ideal of righteousness. Then we remember His promise to us. Nothing we do will ever make Him stop loving us. He will always be God our Father. “nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:39)
When I want to really get to thoroughly understand God. I take the time to search and search His Word. To find the truths He reveals to me about Himself. About His character. His nature. I have found that basically the title “Father” signifies God’s role as a life-giver. As God, the Creator of all living things. Now that to me is awesome.
If you are fascinated by documentaries on and about life on earth. Life has been going on for about three and a half billion years. Now God designed, planned and coordinated all this. With one thing in mind. You and me, and all humanity. How wonderful is this? God, the Creator used all of His creation as His tool for us. As His demonstration of how much He loves us.
God the Father has complete and absolute authority over everything He created. And, for me, this is how it should be. God alone is perfect. God is Love! Therefore, His rule over creation is also perfect and conducted from His overflowing love. Whatever He does is done through and because of His love. “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence.” (2 Peter 1:3) All of creation was created to bring Him glory.
God the Father is complete in and of Himself. That is, God as part of the Holy Trinity is complete and self-existent. He was loved by and in turn, loved the Son and the Holy Spirit. The three Persons as One God live in perfect loving companionship from eternity to eternity.
In other words, unlike you and I. He, God the Father didn’t need anything or anybody. “as though He needed anything since He Himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.” (Acts 17:25) Wouldn’t it be something to live forever in perfect love? In perfect fellowship and companionship? Being completely the sole of your own existence? Needing nothing or nobody? That describes God the Father, the Triune God. God is complete in Himself. (Hard to get my head around that one.)
God has so much love that it overflows. He used this overflow of love to Create. To create everything, including you and me. His special, adopted children. He was complete as the Triune God. God decided through His overflowing love that you and I are truly meaningful. You mean oh! so very much to Him.
Just how meaningful to God the Father are you? “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) God’s love is perfect, infinite and unconditional. His love cannot be compared to anything you will experience from other people. God is our Father, who from before time, laid out a plan for your salvation. Through the sacrificial life and resurrection of His Son, Christ Jesus.
God’s love for you as a Father is chosen. He chooses to love you with all the love of Heaven. His love for you is so deep. So personal. So intimate. He sees into your heart. He’s able to heal your broken heart. “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)
God your Father, the Supreme Being, is so powerful. He uses all His power to love us. He uses His supreme and divine power to take all your hurts and pains upon Himself. And somehow. Someway turn them around for good. “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” (Romans 8:18) God the Father is the source of Jesus’ power while on earth. It was in the name of God the Father that Jesus performed His miracles. So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of His own accord, but only what He sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise.” (John 5:19)
God can through His love for you bring blessing from your heartache and trials. These blessings are lessons for you to share with other people in their hard times.
Each time you are blessed. You are loved in dark times. Your loving Father is giving you a blessing to add strength and guidance. As you learn and lean on God’s genuine faithfulness. All you need to do in times of heartache. Is to turn to your Heavenly Fathe in prayer.
God the Father Reminds You of His Love. “So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” (1 John 4:16)
Do you deep in your heart believe to be a child of God the Father? “To all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)
Do you believe that God the Father can heal your broken heart?
As your loving Heavenly Father His compassion. His love for His children is Perfect, Infinite and Unconditional.
You and I and all faithful followers of Christ Jesus are adopted into God’s Family.
“… you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” (Romans 8:15b)
God loves you and He always will!
