Silent Night! Holy Night!

Silent night! Holy night!
All is calm, all is bright,
’round yon virgin mother and child!
Holy infant, so tender and mild,
sleep in heavenly peace,
sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night! Holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight.
Glories stream from heaven afar,

Heav’nly hosts sing, “Alleluia!
Christ the Savior is born!
Christ the Savior is born!”

(J. Freeman Young, 1859)

Introduction. Jesus’ most profound self-disclosure. “I AM.” This statement changes the world.

Scripture Reading: ‘Very truly I tell you,’ Jesus answered, ‘before Abraham was born, I AM!’ (John 8:58, NIV)

Christmastime is so very much more than the exchanging of presents. So very much more than time spent with family. Though precious this time is. So very much more than an early Christmas morning church service.

Christmastime is where we remember and praise God for His most wondrous present. God Almighty gave to this world His beloved Son, Christ Jesus. The true meaning of Christmastime is a newborn babe. A newborn babe, laid in a manger filled with hay. Peacefully asleep as His mother, Mary sings to Him her lullaby.

As the baby Jesus lay peacefully sleeping. The shepherds, leaving their flocks. Knelt before Him in prayer and in worship. The three kings knelt in worship. Their gifts and their praise to Jesus they offered. Their gifts and their worship to their God. To the Great I AM, they laid before the baby Jesus.

The Heavenly Host. A Heavenly choir sing, “Glory to God in the highest Heaven, and on Earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.” (Luke 2:14, NIV)

We sing our Christmas carols to the baby Jesus. We give to our family our presents and our love. You and I attend an early morning Christmas church service. As we do all these loving and happy festivities. Deep within our heart. Our prayers and our praise to Jesus we give. For yes, we remember, always the true meaning of Christmas. Is the baby Jesus. The Great I AM. Jesus Christ the Messiah God.

When Jesus the Messiah answered the religious leaders. “Truly, Truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” Jesus was revealing to the world He is God the Son.

Jesus’ statement. Christ’s testament that He is equal. The one and only true reflection of God the Father. Has a direct connection to Exodus 3:14. Where Almighty God to Moses revealed His Holy Name, “I AM.” By revealing His name. Jesus is also clearly stating a Biblical claim as a deity. Jesus, our Lord is indeed God the Son. Christ is our beloved Son of God, the Father. Jesus Christ is the Messiah God.

Scripture Reading: God said to Moses, ‘I am who I am.’ And He said, ‘Say this to the people of Israel: I AM has sent Me to you.’ (Exodus 3:14, ESV)

Jesus, the newborn baby. Is Christ the Messiah God. At this special time. We remember the true meaning of Christmas. The most wondrous present ever given to the world. God Almighty presented to all mankind His beloved Son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus entered this sad, and error filled world. As a newborn babe. In truth Jesus is the Messiah God. This was prophesied many, many times in the Old Testament.

Scripture Reading: Therefore, the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a Son and will call Him Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14, NIV)

At the trial of Jesus and before Christ’s crucifixion. While being questioned by the High Priest. Jesus answered him,

Scripture Reading: “I AM,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of Heaven.” (Mark 14:62, ESV)

What joy, peace and hope it brings to all people, in all the world and through all time. For all who believe and accept the true meaning of Christmas. Jesus is God’s anointed One. Christ Jesus is the Savior the world is longing for.

Mary’s newborn babe, Jesus is the chosen One. The one chosen by God to deliver the world from sin and the evil one.

By addressing Jesus our Lord, our Savior. As Jesus Christ. We are accepting Him into our heart as Jesus the Messiah God. Which is especially important at Christmastime. For Christ is the title given to Him by God Almighty.

This name means Jesus is sent by Almighty God. In other words, Jesus the Messiah God is divinely appointed to be our deliverer. Jesus Christ is King of all people, and He is over all nations.

Scripture Reading: For to us a child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6, ESV)

True meaning of Christmastime. For all Christians no matter where we are. Christmas is a true reason to share the love of Jesus.

The themes of Christmastime are love, peace and goodwill toward all people, everywhere.

We glance around this sad and troubled world. There is such a lack of God’s love, peace and goodwill. We pledge to spread these blessings beyond Christmastime. Indeed, till the rest of our lifetime. On all those we meet along the way. For this is what our beloved Lord Jesus did. Right till His last breath. On His wicked and cruel cross. He LOVED everyone. With all of His heart.

Do you feel at times? What difference can one person make? The world around us is in such chaos. We are just one person. With so little to offer and so little time to do it in.

Then we remember. We are the tools of our Lord Jesus. We are His hands, His words of soothing comfort and sincere compassion. We are the love and tender kindness He shows through us. We do as Jesus did during His ministry to the needy and the lost. One person at a time we help. One person at a time we love.

The lady next door. We notice, never has any visitors. We wash our face and comb our hair. And cheerily knock on her door. A tentative smile greets us as she answers. Yes, a difference in her world we make. Yes, one person at a time. We fill this sad and troubled world. We fill this world with Jesus’ love, peace and goodwill. Not only at Christmastime, but for the rest of our lifetime.

Scripture Reading: Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7, NIV)

Christmastime. More than presents around our Christmas tree.

Christmastime. The birth of the baby Jesus Christ. The birth of the Messiah God. The best present the world has ever been given. To the world God gave, Jesus His beloved Son.
